Lots of love for that teen space in Otara, its really needed in every area to help our kids express and find themselves.

the housing is quite decent compared to other places, im from nz and i guess its because its not as densley populated as these other hoods you would find it UK/USA etc. as we don't need these bigs project buildings as much, so theres just mouldy 100 year old wood houses but they aren't bad in the grand scheme of things. Its more the culture around NZ in these areas, not the housing which makes it rough, there is really really high density gang population even though it might not look it. these houses are the cheapest to rent on the market and are still like $800+ per week for a 3 bedroom place. Good video bro! enjoyed watchin it. love from NZ

Next door to the Otara Shopping center is the Manukau Technical Institute which teaches the trades and other careers. The main sport is Rugby League not Rugby Union. The State housing (public housing) is older built in the late 1950s and 60s. The population back then was a mix of European, Maori and Pacific Islanders. People worked in the factories close by. Auckland is about 1.5 million. The Government has been building new State Housing and it is a mix of apartments, single housing and townhouses. My American family were amazed at the new builds. The gangs and drugs started to take over in the late 1970s Black Power or Mongrel Mob.

Rollerdoors came out like late 70s or early 80s from memory and I don’t remember ramraids just breakins and lots of street gangs and fights at night. And things like Farmers department store burning down and people running in helping themselves to early Christmas presents. There was a guy carrying a fridge on his back

Thanks to the Labour Party and people like Len Brown South Auckland got cleaned up with a few upgrades
