when anxiety finished riley’s new belief system and it echoed “i’m not good enough,” and then anxiety immediately realizes she’s done something horrible, i felt that in so many ways. i related to anxiety because she was just trying to help but in turn made things 100% worse, and i felt for riley thinking that she isn’t good enough… it really hit home

I think the point of these movies is that none of the emotions are "evil," but they do things wrong and make mistakes. Kinda like in the first movie! Some people go "Oh Sadness looks like the villain, but it's actually Joy" but really, I think both are just trying to do their jobs and want the best for Riley. Anxiety and Envy are typically negative emotions (like Sadness and Anger) but in the movie they aren't intentionally trying to do harm to Riley, they're doing their jobs the best they know how to do. But also, yesyes I love Envy she's so cute lolol

Actually, Envy has more control over Anxiety than Anxiety has over Envy. When they talk about wishing they could know what Coach thought of Riley, Envy comes up with the idea to steal the notebook and peek at it. Anxiety, is visibly hesitant about the idea, but Envy convinces her to go through with it. Envy may be a child, but she’s not nearly as innocent as you may think.

the quote where joy said she doesn't know how to stop anxiety and as you get older you feel less joy really hits. Which is true that anxiety isn't something that you can easily stop and control. It makes this movie so relatable as especially when you reach Riley's age and going through the changes you start to deal with anxiety. I like how both movies tell us that it's okay to feel negative emotions and you can't keep things suppressed.

As someone with anxiety disorder, this movie hits so close to home. The depiction of anxiety attack, the build up to it, and the way her core belief kept on speaking on her head over and over while she was having an attack. It's all too real. I cried so hard when they all hugged her and when they finally accepted Riley can be all of that. I love this movie.

As we grow, our frontal cortex becomes more developed, and it controls our ability to think ahead and plan for the future. That's why anxiety just showed up, and I love how near the end of the movie, she said she was just trying to protect Riley. Anxiety isn't a bad thing, it can get out of control, but it's there to keep us safe.

What I really loved about this movie is that the message is that Riley learnt how to control her emotions before they were making all the decisions for her and she wasn’t using facts just feelings but now she’s able to ask for what emotion she wants and can realise what situation is required for a certain emotion and she realised she missed the happiness in her life joy took a step back to share the console and by doing so she got lost in all the emotions causing Riley to loose herself and now she has her own core believes whereas she let anxiety dictate her life and what she thought was helping her was hindering her self image

Anger is my favorite and is the emotion I have personally struggled with as I’ve grown up because I treated it that way too, but now I’m older and I understand that it isn’t a bad thing, it’s just a feeling and it’s important and valid to feel feelings. All of The New Emotions were Fantastic! Anxiety in particular was Such a Fantastic Character! I loved this movie so so so much. I love how they represented anxiety. In the end, all emotions are there working for us, and they shouldn't be thought of as negative or positive. Like anxiety said, its job is to prepare us for the things we cannot see. But like with every emotion, you can lose control. Anxiety wanted to help, to prepare Riley, and in the process she just worsened things. Every emotion anxiety put in the self image lake was along the lines of "if I'm good at this, then...", which represented well that we put so much pressure on us so that we would be liked. And I love how they showed how anxiety lost control. If you think too much about what's going to go wrong, it will swirl and swirl and just like anxiety lost the control of the control panel, we lose control of ourselves. Anxiety couldn't even touch the control pad, she was just stuck while the emotion swirled around her. And this goes with every emotion. Toxic happiness is just as bad as extreme anxiety. And I loved the concept of the self image. We are all of the things, not just the good or the bad. We are good friends but we can also be really shitty people. We can love but we can hate just as much. It's important that we don't lock the parts that we don't like, just like they showed in this movie. Inside out 2 was just phenomenal, absolutely mind blowing piece of art.

I love this movie. I love how what Anxiety was doing with trying to build a new sense of self for Riley was bad but also how Joy, by the end, realises that the sense of self she helped Riley build is not real either. And by surprassing uncomfortable memories by throwing them in the back of the mind, she was creating a picture of Riley that was not complete. The "I am a good person" was not wrong per say, it was just incomplete. Riley IS a good person but she does have flaws and she needed to be able to percieve them - and Joy was basically denying her that.

I think them not making this movie targeted at any particular anxiety disorder, while still having it be impactful to most viewers by showing anxiety in its rawest form as a character in around 90 minutes, is an underrated achievement. Sometimes a film like this has to walk a tight rope between nuance and mass appeal, and somehow it struck the perfect balance, no more no less, perfect. You should watch Soul, before this true sequel it was regarded as the sequel in spirit to the first one, you will not regret it!!

I just realised something. In the stream of consciousness, riley usually thinks about foods that she wants to eat. She usually hates brocolli because disgust has always protected her from it, but disgust isn't there this time because anxiety bottles her up. So Riley is now craving brocolli, and it is a sign that she's growing up! This movie is amazing
@TReacts.3 ай бұрын
oh woah yeah!! great spotting!! think you are onto something!
@SandJosiephАй бұрын
The broccolli was there because that's what the energy bar reminded her of, along with cardboard and asparagus. It wasn't because she now craves it.

This movie is good. But what about the "puberty" ? Becoming a teenager gives more issues than just "having new friends". What about "boys", "love", "body changes" ... ?
@TReacts.5 ай бұрын

The movie mostly focuses on the changes in the mind obvi but there is mount crushmore for boys snd love and the start of the movie talks about the changes in the body
@Daniel247245 ай бұрын
@@LittleBodyBigShart Yes, but that's not relevant for the rest of the story. This movie could be the same with the 12 years old Riley.
@gabrielloredodematosfelix78075 ай бұрын
It's because it's about the mental aspects, and being relatable. The "boys" and "body changes" wouldn't have been fun to watch, even less in a family movie. Also, men wouldn't relate as much. That's part of what makes inside out relatable. Riley is a person, as any other, and anything that happened to her, (change, in life and identity) could have happened to anyone.
@Daniel247245 ай бұрын
@@gabrielloredodematosfelix7807 I can understand that. So, why talking about "puberty" ? And about "The "boys" wouldn't have been fun to watch", have you watched the short movie : RILEY'S FIRST DATE ? kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6jTe4eVjLelbpI It's really fun ! 😂
