It's not really sharing emotions, it's anxiety literally taking over everything because, well, it's anxiety and it needs to feel that control in an increasingly (seemingly) uncontrollable world. Emotions are the vibrant hues painting the canvas of human experience. From the euphoric highs of joy to the profound depths of sorrow, they shape our perceptions and actions. Love envelops us in warmth, while anger ignites like wildfire. Fear tightens its grip, while hope whispers promises of better days. Sadness washes over like a heavy rain, cleansing the soul of pain. Emotions connect us, binding hearts in empathy or tearing them apart in conflict. They dance within us, orchestrating the symphony of our existence, reminding us that to feel deeply is to be undeniably alive, navigating the labyrinth of the human condition.

I think it's really heartwarming that Joy has fully accepted Sadness for who she is, and how important she is for Riley. And I like already how Fear and Anxiety are fearful/worried about two completely different things: Fear is worried for more concrete concerns in the present, anxiety is worried about more abstract concerns that could or could not be in the future. Fear is worried about the possibility that Riley could get hit in the mouth with a hockey puck (which is rational and easily fixed), Anxiety is worried that if Riley does not make a good first impression on the cool kids that in the future she will not be popular/have friends (which is irrational but feels oh so important now that she has to or else she will be thinking about it for the next year).

I think one of the coolest part about this film being released almost 10 years after the first film, is that the children that grew up seeing this movie are likely going through what Riley is in this film. Puberty. Several therapists have attested to how Inside Out helped young children understand and process their emotions, and now those children are growing up and developing feelings they have even less understanding of. My parents kind of glossed over having any of these discussions and didn't address them until they became problematic, so I hope adults and even therapists see this movie to help their young pre-teens/teens navigate the misery of puberty.

I watched the full movie, and I can’t believe how much it made me cry!! The first one came out when I was younger and things were therefore a lot easier. This is the only movie I’ve ever watched that I can truly relate to, because it shows how messy growing up can be. Things get harder, you start to feel things you’ve never experienced before, like anxiety. But it’s also a good reminder to embrace all parts of yourself

I'm so happy for you that this film felt so relatable to you and, perhaps, has helped you sort through your *own* wide range of feelings, which I know become a lot more complex in the preteen and teen years. I had a crippling anxiety attack, seemingly "out of the blue", and it... kinda changed my brain permanently. I had to beg, but, my mother got me counseling, (only good therapist I've ever had personally, which is sad.) Having a movie such as this around would have been immensely helpful for me. Enjoy these years! ❤️ No other time of your life is as crucial to the adult you will become, and you have so very much to look forward to. With love from an older, wiser, internet stranger. 😉❤

I don’t think it’s why they’re not in the first movie (I think they thought of them after the first movie & that’s why), but previous repliers totally missed your point. I believe OP’s theory is that these emotions get so strong during your developmental years that they split off into their own embodiments of emotions, like how anxiety would possibly normally be created by fear & sadnesses, but because the feeling of anxiety is so strong, it becomes its own emotion character. Then, unless the adult feels this emotion really strong on the regular, the emotion disappears. It’s probably not the intended plot but I think the theory makes some sense. Hope this was understandable. 👍🫶

I'm in my 40s and not a fan of Disney in general - but I have to say that, having watched this one, I was kind of blown away by how unexpectedly relatable the depiction of anxiety was. In some parts it hit so close to home that I had to pause the movie and kind of get the emotion out of my system. It's rare that a Disney movie affects me like this, well done. That said, it's just not true that children don't feel more nuanced emotions such as anxiety, envy, embarrassment, etc, these are not emotions that "only kick in at puberty."

Why have they not added another positive emotion. Contentment, or love. Joy having to do even heavier lifting
@chrisrj987110 ай бұрын
What I appreciate about the first movie, they could have made Fear a total chicken-wuss (brilliant vocab, I know), but he knows he has a job to do. That part where Riley starts to run away for the bus near the end, and he stops her like "are we sure we want to do this?". That, I liked. Shows Fear has a brain. I guess there's fear (one's own safety, somebody's safety, etc), and there's cowardice.

Seeing Riley more grown up, going through puberty and experiencing that teenage experience is so emotional to me. I love the new emotions, because as a teenager it’s so accurate. I can’t wait to watch Inside Out 2 it looks so fun & exciting.

Looks like we have a second item Sadness smiled for. In the first movie it was the imaginary boyfriend, and now in the sequel it's Embarrassment.

Like I said before, this is a Pixar sequel that seems necessary, especially that the new emotions are very relatable for a lot of people.
