“Civilian” is an incredibly underrated album, though not the ‘old’ GG style, but just as brilliant in other terms. Really nice to listen to this title in your fresh interpretation, a truely timeless composition, performed magnificently by empathic musicians. 👍

I hadn't heard the song for 30 years or more (having stopped playing any GG post Free Hand) but there are gems to be found in the later albums, and this is one of them. Benefits incredibly from the wonderful harmonies (almost anything is better than Dereks whine!). Well done EG>

Oh, EXCELLENT. GG was the greatest live prog band I ever saw. In terms of instrumental prowess, vocal harmonies and TOTALLY unique material, no one was even close. Gosh they were so good live! This reading is wonderful and brings a tear to my eye. Thank you all for this!

I totally agree. They were the first concert I saw back in 1976 not knowing anything about them or their music. Well let me tell you they blew me away and I was hooked forever. They were the best band live that I've ever seen and that's saying a lot with all the hundreds of shows I've seen over the years. Long live the Giant.

I was late in discovering Gentle Giant (I found out about them in Stuart Maconie's book Cider With Roadies), and started out with In A Glass House, working my way backward and forward with their albums from there. Civilian was the last one I got, and I didn't hold out too much hope for it, having read it was their last-ditch attempt to be more commercial, but found the songs to be intelligently written, appealing and beautifully played and produced. It's a shame they stopped there, they could've done so much more had they got the recognition they were due.

Isn’t KZbin wonderful? This came up on my feed today and I have to say it’s brilliant! As an old “progger” (I was in my early teens in the 70s) it never ceases to amaze me when complex music such as that made by GG is covered by newer generations of talented musicians. Gentle Giant is alive and well and living in Sweden! Fabulous stuff.

Excellent arrangement. Superb vocals. Love the tinkly bells! Only thing I missed was the sub-bass in the outro (as a bass-player that kinda makes it for me :-) ). I have been a lifelong GG fan (saw them three times) and it is so good to see the resurgence of interest in their fabulous music. Well done!

Just plainly Magnificient. As a prog nut this is absolutely wonderful. Absolutely amazing. Dont know who's idea the hand bells were, but it is great and indispensable and really gives a very bright positive contrast to the dark undertones of the song.

Incredible! I have seen GG many times in NY opening for Tull & Focus, and in Miami. The greatest underrated band ever!!! You all are Amazing! You Captured The Essence of GG!!! GG were Unreal musicians & I Love Kerry & Phil's vocals. Derek did a nice job as well but the voice was straining. Hearing your voices on this, especially Hjordas(?) is an actual improvement! PLEASE tour the US after more GG songs!
