I am so on the same wavelength with this fabulous lady. If it's not old I don't want it in my house. You or have sentiment in your heart or you are devoid of it. I have so many things belonging to my parents and grandparents and I wouldn't trade them for the world. Some of my family treasures are 100 years old and if there was a fire they would be the first things that I'd save. Old things have a soul and tell a story. Well they do to me. Oh, my, goodness!! I'm mostly a city girl, modern esthetic. But I love and work with vintage and antique books and textiles. Paula's home, and her garden, really speak to me!! Gorgeous, and so cozy!! What a lovely atmosphere you have created. In viewing your garden you have given me an idea for my own. I have used left over bricks from previous yard work to create two flower plots in my backyard. The brick styles don't match and are not very pretty to see. I now realize I can purchase woven wicker borders to cover them by placing them in front of the bricks as you have done around your garden plots. Voila! Thank you for sharing.

What a gorgeous home and garden. I was given a whole set of the Bardallo Pinheiro Portugese dinnerware from a neighbor when she moved. This spring , I mixed them in a table scape with my blue and white dishes , and was amazed how well that combination looks. I added cobalt blue goblets, but think I need some green ones now too. I also have a large old framed mirror in my garden. The little birds go crazy , thinking one of them is captured and can't get out. They go find their little bird friends and before you know it there are 6 or 7 of them chirping wildly. It is fun watching them. Love your garden and the gymnasium is incredible. The leather hand weights are so unique . A kitchen garden and garden office!!! Are you kidding me!!! This is my dream property. What a beautiful lady. Side note... is there a link to those brass Puki? lights on the garden table.

Her style and philosophy work well on so many levels. Family, nature, appreciation for beauty, and affinity with the past. I also have a set of Bordallo Pinheiro majolica, but in the leaf pattern. I would adore having a 'she shed' or garden office. Up-cycling can be terrific, especially with creative people. I inherited my grandmother's collection of linen tablecloths, and plan to repurpose the damaged ones into kitchen curtains and other uses. Here in the U.S., I'm not familiar with Paula, but will have to check out her book. Love a mystery! :)
