@@nnnnnn3647 yeah, Qantas 32. A single imperfectly drilled oil passage almost crashed an a380. They tired to do a secret recall on all of those Trent 900 engines but it got out anyway. They basically just stopped talking to the press until it was addressed. Had it not been for the A380 having 300 miles of internal wiring (the debris from the explosion actually severed the fly by wire controls for the side sticks, thankfully it has a duplicate set on the other side) it certainly would have been the first and only A380 crash and the first and only fatal crash for Quantas.

Ted Carruthers The back side of RR is the dark side.....The wages from RR in United States was fought for by a UAW Union contract, otherwise the company is not any different from any other. MercyReaper you can look at the company registration on the UK GOV website. It is Rolls-Royce Motor Cars (subsidiary of BMW). Yes they do the detailed work and upholstery etc in the UK. I'm sure they probably do a lot of design for aesthetics too. My point is that Rolls-Royce (PLC) is a global industrial technology company and the automotive side was licenced off to BMW. So the company 'Rolls-Royce' doesn't make cars. The subsidiary 'Rolls-Royce Motor Cars' does. @rezhaadriantanuharja33893 жыл бұрын
@@popongomac3540 Yes, probably. It all depends on how rapid energy conversion technology develops. Take 4 - stroke internal combustion engine for example. With their manufacturing prowess, there are no doubt that China can dominate this sector, yet they haven't, Honda (Japan) is still the biggest player here. I believe this is due to rapid development of electric vehicles i.e. there are no reasons for China to invest in this sector because electric is the future. The same goes for gas turbines. Are they staying around long enough that China is willing to invest in this sector? I am not sure about aviation industry. In my industry (oil and gas), several factors may hinder China's penetration in gas turbine sectors; global technical support from existing players, excellent relationship between users and OEM e.g. R&D, best practice, design know-how, and perhaps most importantly fleet commonality which makes new turbine brand expensive and risky. But we'll see, it will be interesting

They actually use dead birds for bird strike test

That was my first thought, like WTF?
@AJshoots134 жыл бұрын
Wait they actually used real birds. I thought they were bs and just using almost identical bone and weight mass simulating an actually bird.

The knowlege and skills posessed by RR is so wide and deep that they can't be encompassed. One thing I learned on my visit many years ago was how surprised they were at how much noise reduction was made when they switched to wide fan blades. They said 'We did not realise how much noise came out of the front of the engine'... wide blades contain sound energy because they overlapp whereas noise pollution escaped between older style narrow blades
