My sister was a nurse in Riyadh for 7 years. She really enjoyed her time working and living in Saudi Arabia. She didn't want to leave but at the time foreign housing complexes were being targeted and bombed and it became to dangerous to live where she did. While in Saudi Arabia she developed double breast cancer and she said she received the best medical care and new treatment. Years after she moved back home though her cancer came back and she passed away in 2016. I have many items she sent back home to me from Saudi Arabia and I treasure them.

Having a Western education, it is difficult for me to understand how a father of girls can agree with the limitation of women's rights in the country in which he lives! I pray that Arab women have the right to design their lives as they wish to be happy Both men and women are human beings, I don't think that we men are more special than women and have more rights, if we cut a finger, red blood will flow from my wound as a man and from my wife's wound without distinction

@@ENDEVRDocs What is his name? He made a fantastic documentary and is an excellent journalist touching on very sensitive topics in the Saudi culture. It mustn't have been easy but he did it with much grace, especially when he manages to bring to light issues that in Saudi Arabia are not to be discussed or disputed or else! Often seemingly irrational in my point of view, often clouded by religion and power. I have to admit some of their culture made my blood boil. Not that the Western world is perfect however, we are seeing it fall of its perch in terms of free speech, democracy, hypocrisies, and abuse of power. Thank you for taking us on this journey of SA with you. This man gave balance with his compassion for the poor and downtrodden, the injustices and the complex inconsistencies of the culture. The young women were incredibly strong, while battling a somewhat archaic culture. I doubt if the truth will ever come to light of the brutal murder of journalist Khashoggi, or someone else will be accused. It's difficult to not see that their 'project' is part of a distraction and an attempt to re establish the 'good' reputation of the crown prince.

There are errors and incorrect information in the report First, oil revenues do not go to the royal family, but go to the state treasury, just as the state’s expenditures depend on oil revenues. Why are you trying to change the truth? 2_ The young men who run to escape from the police in this movie have harmed the girls, and when anyone assaults the other, the security intervenes. Why are you trying to change the truth? 3_ What freedom are you looking for? In Saudi Arabia, we have the best freedom, and we live with dignity, and under the auspices of our government, we receive care that no other people on the face of the earth finds. While the freedom you are looking for is for us to reject our rulers, to be disobedient, and to be opposed to their rule. This is the freedom that you want to reach. 4_Why don't you picture Saudi Arabia from the inside with the truth in which we live in happiness, development, construction and a happy citizen?

You're controlling the narrative by manipulating subtitles, at 25:52 it says "behind every succesful man, there's a woman." this is WRONG, the man said "behind every man is a powerful woman", you're twisting his words to portray a false sense of the importance of a woman.

Liberals & Kafirs say woman not being able to show their beauty to unknown man is oppression 😂. In reality, In a liberal society Woman has to pay 50% of house bills, 50% of children's expenditure, pay for 50% of own food, children’s food husband’s food etc. Pay 50% tax to the liberal govt. Has to Take care of 2 duties Earning for family, taking care of family. And when Islam says, You don't have to take 2 duties just take 1 and keep your money. Islam becomes oppressive 😂. If anything is a cautionary tale of how religion can ruin a society, this is it. Don't be so smug. It is also happening right here in the USA, right now. As American theoretical physicist and Nobel laureate, Steven Weinberg once famously said, "With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil - that takes religion.".

Such an indepth documentary. Loved seeing the core of the people from all walks of life from within the country. The quality, length and details, boldness of interviewer, and personal touch from seeing him go through Mecca and Medina.. I think one of the women there raised a great highlight of appreciating and being excited for seeing the country grow, develop, transitions. Outsiders are often quick to criticise how great or well it is doing, but its also important to recognize and appreciate how far its progressed. There will always be rooms for improvement everywhere, but not diminishing the progression and growth from how far its come is important. I think its more fair to judge it according to each country's own history and scale, versus according to the standards of those who are worlds apart from it. It can easily distract from appreciating the growth & progression standards over time.

My Mom's cousin (American) married a Saudi in the 80s. They have 3 grown children now. And just a couple months ago in early 2024, my Aunts and Uncle's were able to travel and visit her for the 1st time ever in Jeddah, SA. She & her family visit the states often. The children all went to college in the US, but all live in SA. In fact my moms cousin met her Saudi husband while attending college in Texas!

A pedagogical tourist guide, very insightful and intelligent, she is everything I would wish a tour guide to be, besides she is warm-hearted and inclusive. If someone takes the responsibility upon herself, to look at monuments from a child’s perspective, you can be sure to submit your innocence , ignorance to an engaged guide to fully comprehend something unfamiliar. ❤

I used to live and work in KSA (Riyadh and Jeddah) 17 years ago, it was way more strict than today but Jeddah was always a bit liberal compared to Riyadh. So long you don't break any rules and stay out of trouble, you'll be fine. I had great memories there, I've worked and met with a lot of amazing people both locals and other arabs from around the middle east. People were kind and generous. I am sure a lot of things has already changed. Would love to visit again.

Also Australian, and can't agree more how different our country is to Saudi Arabia. Firstly, we don't have dissident journalist killed and dismembered because they don't agree with the crown prince "MBS". Jamal Khashoggi worked for the Washington Post and was murdered in Turkey on 2 October 2018 under the orders of MBS. Human rights are not even part of his regime's agenda.
