Dundee has been a drug city for decades and now at its highest peak. I’ve lived in Douglas and was surrounded with addicted people and the crimes that result from it. It’s a serious problem while the police and the councils doing nothing. I’m glad I left Dundee.

Used to be the Fintry Shams and Whitfield Shams in 90s and 00s. Y.W.S.R. Used to be more crazy back then too. It was a no go area in Whitfield. Knife crime. Used to be planned fights with other schemes . Where used to go through a metal detector and searched to get access to the Carnival - Hornes😂 Used to be the Whitfield Youth Project & outreach, nothing now. The skarne blocks meant police wouldn’t be able to catch anyone due to the maze. I was one of the first in the new house as a kids. So true about losing so many I grew up with due to drugs. The chip shop at Whitfield shops actually had bars up for safety. It’s great to see the positivity to try and improve the schemes for the youngers.

Dundee might be a little rough round the edges but it's no better or worse than any other UK city. You'll also find some of the friendliest, kindest, nicest people in Dundee, a vibrant night life, beautiful outdoor spots like the Law, Camperdown Country Park, Magdalene Green, Broughty Ferry beach, the urban beach & Slessor Gardens, various nature reserves and woodland walks. Plenty of culture and history can be found at the Whitehall Theatre, Dundee Rep Theatre, the Gardyne Theatre, the Caird Hall, Dundee Contemporary Arts, the McManus, the V&A and the Discovery museum. It's also the home of some of the UK's best bakeries like Clarks 24 hour bakery in the west end (yes, really, a 24 hour bakery, only in Dundee can you get a hot fresh pie at 4.30am 😂). It would be good to see more documentaries focusing on the positive sides of this amazing little city.

The main thing that has changed from schemes in Dundee from say around the nineties and previously is that they are no longer as dangerous on a territorial level. Massive respect to these lads for stretching an arm out for positive guidance to a generation where not much exists in the way of hope when stuck in a poverty stricken environment. That said, the communities that they form are 100 times more genuine than that which anyone who regards themselves as better than others come from. Good people earn that respect through selflessness versus self righteous social filtering by those who see it as a god given right.
