The tanker "Eventin", which was damaged off Rügen and carries over 90,000 tons of oil on board, is now to be towed off the port of Sassnitz. The new destination is Sassnitz to secure the tanker there in a protected position, the Central Command for Maritime Emergencies announced. The ship is not expected there until Sunday at the earliest, according to a spokeswoman. The tanker is on a list of 192 ailing ships with which Russia transports oil to circumvent sanctions, according to the environmental organization Greenpeace, the so-called shadow fleet. Russia is circumventing the oil embargo imposed as a result of its attack on Ukraine with tankers sailing under a foreign flag.

What I think is cool is that there is this mindset throughout their entire military that everything is to be used the most cost effective way possible or for a exact purpose. Unless it's justified by the amount of Russians in one area Ukraine will literally never use a weapon that costs more than the target. They will find the cheapest way to destroy a piece of equipment and then look for a cheaper option.

Every month I donate to an international team (United Aid Ops) that supply logistics to Ukrainian units. This is more efficient than the Ukrainian army. The army is good with the big stuff, but the little stuff is also essential. It helps morale for people to says "Slava Ukraini!", but, in words Mustafa used to trigger the Maidan revolution against Russia: "'Likes' don't count."

One of the first things I learned as a kid about war from my late father who served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1970... You NEVER ask a soldier "How many enemy soldier's did you kill?" I made my mistake also asking during dinnertime 😮... My old man leaped from his chair and backhanded me right out of my mine with my fork still in my hand before I knew what happened. What he said to me, while he was furiously standing over me while I was on my back looking up with shock, I will never forget... "I DID WHAT I HAD TO DO TO COME HOME...IS THAT WHAT YOU WANTED TO HEAR?????" I also do not think his reaction was inappropriate or excessive, and I deserved exactly what I got. I've never asked ANY soldier who went to war that question since. If they want to talk, I will listen, but DO NOT ask them.
@malteschaper378214 күн бұрын
If he really believed that he wouldn't have leaped you. But based on his reaction alone he probably felt remorse for his killings. Which is the humane way of feeling. Your story shows what struggle people have to face in and after the war.
@rogergoodman866514 күн бұрын
@malteschaper3782 : I think he was remorseful, but he was also still haunted by the war at this time.This incident happened in 1982. He was like a lot of vets then and rarely talked about his service to non veterans, which I get, since talking about it is kind of a "you had to be there" type of conversation for most veterans. He didn't show many signs of ptsd but there were some, such as yelling and screaming in the corner of my parents bedroom, squatting down while still asleep with his hands over his head. I still can't imagine (I'm almost 53 now) the nightmares he endured alone and for the most part in secret. A few vets I met as an adult and talked to about his experiences were almost brought to tears because they too had similar experiences. Vietnam Vets never got the recognition, respect and help afterwards they deserved. My dad died young at 54 in 1996 from stage 4 small cell carcinoma, that his doctors thought was directly related to his service.
