Maximum take off weight is 19000lbs. In bulk configuration you can take about 5000lbs cargo and go 200 nautical miles with an IFR alternate. With Cargo containers the most I’ve taken is 4700lbs before running out of space in the containers.

This airframe was designed at the request of FEDEX EXPRESS to enhance there feeder network in cargo only kit . it will be a single PIC operator that will be loaded with LD3 containers. It was not originally designed for passengers.

Not a problem. The 4826lbs of fuel sit right in the center of gravity. Burning off fuel doesn’t change the CG. We operate it either with three containers or four bulk cargo zones separated by nets. The loaders tell us how much cargo they have and I tell them how much to put in each zone. With the containers they tell us how much cargo is in each container and I tell them where to put the containers. We have a slide rule computer (CG Wheel) to quickly see what works before doing a paper weight and balance.

Nice plane but engine exhaust is dirtying up the side of the cowling and tge upper wing. Should have workout the exhaust aft of the engine iso on the side. Think about the Dornier328 or the SAAB2000 or EMB120 or the Q400

The range is too short to make it nothing more than a short regional or cargo plane.

It’s the best for what it was designed. Hauling fedex containers, and bulk cargo, over a 200nm-400nm distance with one pilot. I have about 1000 hours in the Twin Otter and about 800 hours in the SkyCourier. The only thing the Twin Otter is better at is STOL. The Beech 1900 is comparing apples and oranges. Much faster and better range, but also more complex. That means more downtime for unscheduled maintenance. The SkyCourier is also much more comfortable for pilots and easier to fly for inexperienced pilots. Airlines don’t care about that though, they look at the bottom line. The SkyCourier is a great replacement for Twin Otters that don’t operate into short runways. A lot of Caribbean island hopping into longer runways is ideal. Much more space in 19 seat configuration and it’s appreciably faster. The SkyCourier cargo volume is 884 cubic feet vs 384 cubic feet for the Twin Otter. That’s a huge advantage for cargo operators like FedEx. Loading and ofloading 5000lbs cargo with three containers takes about 10 minutes. Bulkloading takes about an hour. Fedex is all about speed so it’s perfect for that.

Just a Caravan on steroids. Pointless waist of time and money, I am sure it will be slow too. The sky pig.

Nope. 50kts faster than the Caravan and the cargo volume is almost tripple. That’s gold for FedEx. We fly a lot of small and light packages. Extra cubic feet volume is more important than weight. We almost always bulk out before we hit our max take off weight.
