How many 1100 lb steers can a guy running a feeding operation kill and butcher in his spare time? If we go back to do-it-yourself butchering people with jobs won't have time to play golf or watch sports.

It’s as evident as the nose on everyone’s face, that with the demise of the small farms & ranches so does the same town America! Corporations have gutted our towns of small businesses, farms, ranches, individualism, heritage and so on that made America GREAT! All they left was drugs, poverty, pure shit! A few years ago, the sugar industry sued the high fructose corn syrup industry to keep them from calling their product corn sugar. The cattlemen associations need to do the same with meat. Man made substitutes need to be identified at the grocery store and the restaurants. If it’s 3-D printed, it shouldn’t be labeled steak, it should be labeled fake. Beef is your brand, don’t let others counterfeit.

There were no big surprises, probably because I'm such a cynic at this point, but taking in all that info was like drinking from a firehose, especially when he talked about the funding shuffle. I have never been able to grasp why the cow-calf producer needs to pay the checkoff when its the packer makin huge profits. And then there's the question about the corporate cattle feeders owned by the same corp as the slaughterhouse - who also own bio fuel manufacturing plants and grain elevators. WTH?

I had a worry this week with these fires in the panhandle. This sustainable farming and EID tags seems like it is going to cut a lot of hay baling from being done. Then when these wildfires happen the ability to help each other will be a lot tougher.

Sustainable farming as a movement has the goal of less food production whether they acknowledge it or not. The practices they encourage often don’t look at the realities of production and the interactions with other parts of farming that benefit all aspects of life and community and economies.

The honest truth is everything is very expensive now and an honest strategy and effort to do what these organizations now claim to do would cost millions. However, in my humble opinion, we are being screwed by these organizations currently. There needs to be real scientific research done. Producers already pay for colleges and the states all have agriculture departments. Where is the packers share of research and marketing? There is plenty of social media channels supporting menus, healthy eating, beef cuts keto diets. We need producers, supported by scientific research, to get out the other necessary facts to refute the lies being told. Sponsoring a NASCAR race and advertising on the Hallmark channel are wasted money.

As US producers you don’t need to go at this alone. The North American Beef industry is basically integrated but for easy political gain you attack Canadian beef constantly. We are not your enemy. We are a higher cost producer of beef, working at a disadvantage to your own production, we produce under more regulation. We could work together and accomplish way more than fighting. We have 20 years experience with EID tags.(caused partly by US) We can help.

Just for context, 20 years ago the US (indirectly and directly) basically caused Canadian producers to go to 100% use of Eid tags. It’s not the problem that is being portrayed. I’m not saying it’s a good thing, I’m saying there is something much more nefarious and you are mostly focusing on the symptoms. Stop fighting us please and we could work together maybe. Apart we are losing constantly.

What is the justification for the electronic ear tags? I'm not a rancher but grew up on farm n ranch and worked on such as a kid. My family is still farmers n ranchers. Sitting here and thinking about this I'm concerned with the ecological impact of having these things implemented could well have. In electronics the use of rare earth metals is standard. It's bad enough we have all these EV cars and trucks and the mining associated with producing them is having devastating effects. The need to electronically track every single head of beef, mutton, swine etc, is just ridiculous. Which leads me to wonder, what the justification for electronic ear tags is. Also, is all the beef coming from Brazil, is Brazil electronically tagging their cattle? I agree with those on here that commented that this is OVERREACH.

My guess on why the emphasis on the tags is that the Bank for International Settlements wants to digitize everything and I mean every little thing that exists so they can monitor and control any and everything that can be used as collateral. This is not some crazy conspiracy, it is right on the BIS website.

I have been in the cattle business for 25 years as a small producer. I have always said that beef checkoff was a scam. I have never seen a need for the beef checkoff. Giving money to any organization that has no checks and balances is for payroll only. Sadly I was right. The beef checkoff needs to stop as well all checkoffs.

Jim, I’ve listened to your prior videos and they have been informative. I appreciate your enthusiasm and passion. However, after you introduced Vaughn Meyer you didn’t let him talk. You continually interrupted Vaughn and talked over him answering your own questions. Thank goodness the interview got better after about 40 minutes. Vaughn appears to have more patience than you have air. Keep up the work giving us current information. Work on your interviewing skills and I’ll keep listening. Country of origin labeling for beef is incredibly important keep sounding the horn this topic.
