Omg I LOVE this idea for a series and cannot wait for more!! I think it would be really cool if you were one day able to visit one and do a video on one of the Fairmont Hotels in Canada (Banff springs, chateau Laurier, empress, chateau Frontenac, royal York, and the queen Elizabeth). Obviously they’re luxe since it’s Fairmont, but the buildings themselves are absolutely beautiful (they look like castles!) and have such interesting history behind them since they originated in connection with the Canadian national and pacific railways 😊

That was such a great tour! So well done! I grew up on Long Island. My Dad had taken me there when I was a young boy to see the latest jet airplanes. Back then there was no security that would prevent anyone from going right up to the gate. Since then, that terminal has always been fascinating to me. At one point they were considering tearing it down but a group of conservationists was able to have it declared a landmark building.

I really appreciate all the unique design elements. Like the desk being behind the bed and the shower handle being on the opposite wall. I also love how everything is decorated and on theme - the old phone, chairs, the flight attendant uniforms - everything! And the architecture! AMAZING.

Great video, such a beautiful space. I don’t believe flying was only something the 1% did but it was more rare and when people traveled they dressed up. It was a treat to travel so people wanted to look the part. This is based on stories from my mom and her travels in the 50’s through 70’s and she wasn’t part of the 1%. ❤️ I know her parents dressed up every time they traveled as well. Seats were much bigger and traveling was comfortable. A big change from today where they pack you in.

In the old days, flying was a glamorous way to travel and people dressed up accordingly. These days, not only do people dress down, you're liable to get drunks, altercations, swearings and brawls thrown in with your flights.

Very cool Shelby!! I'd seen the TWA terminal while flying JetBlue before...with a stop at JFK many times while going to/from Boston. I hope this TWA hotel succeeds because it looks ridiculously cool! Best part about all of this, it appears to be very reasonably priced for an overnight stay in the NYC area. They also do "day passes" for a 4 hour stay in a room...but that isn't much of a discount. Course if you're on a long layover and want to grab some sleep and a shower...the $150 price +tax for 4 hours is decent....but it's not inside security. Interesting they let you wander around outside the airplane bar on the tarmac...even if it isn't an active area. My favorite part without an actual visit? I agree...gotta be the roof top heated pool! What other airport has that at their on property hotel? Probably not many.

As I type this it is almost midnight here in Los Angeles and I know that it is late but it is so nice and refreshing even just to hear you talk! It is about time that I will subscribe! Good Job Shelby. I think that TWA terminal at JFK has to be the coolest Airport building in the world, ever built! It was futuristic when it opened and it still looks futuristic today! Maybe the first Hotel on the Moon or Mars will look like that… Lol. I was also lucky enough to pass through it once when I was younger, and walked that corridor, but I think I was too young to appreciate it.

As a person who was born in the 60s and grew up in the late 60s, 70s and early 80s, your vlog was pretty on point. I do however, have to disagree with you on one thing. Air travel back then was not just for the 1%. It was was more, dare I say glamorous to fly. Yes we dressed up, we had full course meals in coach, and as a child I even got to go into the cockpi during our flight. My family was middle class and we flew many times out of this terminal and LA to visit family or to visit NYC when we moved to FL in 1969. It was the greatest time and I cherish those memories greatly.
