this was, without a doubt, one of the best books i've ever read. i know hyperbole sounds unbelievable, but i genuinely mean it. i finished reading it last night and was left sobbing for a good long while after. the whole book feels so expansive, but so focused, so cinematic. if this ever gets made into a show or a movie, i hope they don't change a single thing. the book & writing itself is so perfectly edited and, again, cinematic, that nothing need be changed. the ordering and layering of everything, all the story threads, is PERFECT.

Hello! Its been a good long while since you left this so apologies for the blast from the past. If homosexuality between men is a no-go for you (which I'm going to just dodge that whole debate), I would still highly recommend this book! The male character's interest in others of the same sex is basically non-existent except for a one-off sentence and one scene, a scene you can skip if you prefer not to read it. Hoever, there is a pretty important section that focuses on a female-female relationship. Our opinions aside, its really a VERY good book. Just wanted to give you a better picture in case you're willing to give it a shot. 👍
