I was on a tour back in the 60's when I was attending Bainbridge Elementary School or the tour was through the Cub Scout troop 132. You could look into the power generating station when you were fishing from the catwalk. I also remember being able to camp on the north side of the river below the dam. Parked on the side of route 222 and carried in all your camping and fishing supplies. Those were the good old days.

Tell them to show you the repairs from Agnes that cracked the base. Its held in place with bridge cables and epoxy.

It would have been nice to hear the person leading the tour.

Deja vu, Hello from Austin, TX. Conowingo is in PA, right. I know I was there as a kid 60’s early 70’s. Guess I am having deja vu too. Indian name like Monongahela? Nice video, thanks.

Hello Clayton. The dam is in Maryland on the susquehanna river. All the PA rivers seemed to be named after Indian tribes.

Another DeJa Vu, Thank you so much for responding. I was there on a school field trip or family weekend trip late 60’s. I know we went to the Peach Bottom power plant, also. Kids today don’t seem to get to experience much from school.

How do you go about getting a tour like that? I've driven over the dam too many times to count and would love to take that tour with my family.

It's only open for visitation 1 weekend a year. It's their annual open house. But you have to call ahead and request tickets. They are first come first serve. I would recommend stopping by The Visitor Center and getting information. It's not really advertised that much. It will obviously be the summer of 2018 but at least you'll get a heads up. Thanks for watching
