I am from Northern Nigeria and sure we have so many such tahfiz schools and Islamiyya schools. The schools vary, from learning Islam, ibadah, fiqh, and memorization to hawahimi (حم), those suras starting with (حم), which are for every child within the neighborhood, then tahfiz schools for the whole Qur'an which many kids do attend but not all children. Alhamdu lil-lah, we are happy with our success, and had taken first positions in Qur'an competition in Saudiyya for several times. I agree, the Somalis and Ethiopians too have gone far in Qur'an recitation. Subhanal Lah.
