My understanding is that the medium level jerseys will be almost identical to the adidas authentic jerseys consumers could buy previously (besides the shoulder dimples and the fanatics logo replacing the adidas logo on the back), and the lowest level jerseys will still be the fanatics replica jerseys most people are already familiar with. I could be wrong, I obviously haven’t seen or gotten my hands on any of the jerseys yet, but my understanding of the jersey levels will be: highest-end=MiC, medium level=similar to Adidas authentic, and lowest level=fanatics replicas

I’m so glad they’ve made the decision to allow fans to buy the on ice version, I’ll buy a few, but most likely going to stick with the retail version & glad to see the price didn’t move. Maybe I missed it in the video, but I wonder if the retail ”authentic” version will have the fight strap? As always great job Chris & thank you for this video!

As a UK-based Ducks fan; $500 plus shipping plus other import fees means getting an authentic pro jersey is out of the question. I've been quite happy with both retail Adizero authentics that I own so I'll be patiently waiting for the international NHL shop to get those new Fanatics versions in - or any new Ducks logo stuff. Currently the only Breakaway jersey I own is a Reverse Retro Wild Wing, mostly because I couldn't justify the authentic price tag for a jersey with no embroidered crest. It's comfy enough and adequately serves its purpose for what it is - but from what I've seen of other Breakaways I still can't get past the logo treatment 😅
@purplebeard15264 ай бұрын
Let me put it this way for the first part, I never bought a hockey jersey period till I bought a retail mid-tier Reebok of the Hurricanes OG black warning flag alternate. I bought several more Reeboks of that level and they were fine for the price point. I have bought multiple Adidas of the retail variety now and I would say those are slightly nicer than the Reeboks. Comparing the Fanatics brand currently out versus the Aididas currently out, there is a reason the Fanatics are cheaper: the materials and the construction. They aren't bad and they're cheaper, but for the price difference, I'd rather have the brand the team wears. I have also felt and seen in-person the Mitchell & Ness replicas--for the price, those things are overpriced for the quality in terms of the nameplates, crests, and patches--the jersey itself isn't too bad, but the cheapness of all of the other aspects of it are off-putting to me. Secondly, for Fanatics branded apparel that they make, I have had TONS of issues with the quality of their screenprint merchandise--specifically the screenprints themselves, not the actual shirt or hoodie material--just the screenprint. I am leery of any of their branded apparel, and I almost have to see them IN-PERSON before I would buy one of which a design by Fanatics is my only choice. Their hats have been fine. I think Fanatics is making a smart move to have 4 levels of jersey, the Fanatics out now, the Adidas retail equivalent, the on-ice, and the practice. It will be interesting to see the price points though. For Fanatics year 1, are they doing home, away, and alternate? Or is just home and away. On those dimples.... I thought they were cool and depending on the jersey design, they can look better, worse, or even. I think those dimples really set off my Canes black jersey, but on the red, white, or Whalers ones, it really doesn't even stand out.

Too soon to know, probably. I know a lot of arenas do their own customization, but what you'd find at other retail stores likely came from the factory that way. I'm not sure I'm too happy about Fanatics charging the same for their middle tier jerseys as the Adidas Indo jerseys. Adidas is a globally recognised brand with a storied history in almost every sport for the best part of a century. They possess a degree of recognition which Fanatics dont. Adidas have the "right" to charge a premium or mark things up because you're paying for a premium brand. Fanatics is not a desirable brand so they shouldn't be expecting customers to pay the same as they would Adidas. I was happy to pay $180 for an Adidas product. I wouldnt pay more than $130 for the same jersey made by Fanatics. You'd think that now Fanatics is offering an even higher spec jersey for $400+ they would maybe be able to offset the costs for the mid tier. Make the $180 jersey $130 and knock the Breakaway jersey down to under $90. Nobody in their right mind should be paying over $100 for a Fantics breakaway. Another nitpick is the close up of that Blues jersey crest... YIKES. You see that bubblimg im the crest? Looks like something you'd get from DHgate. Only time will tell.
@icethetics4 ай бұрын
That might be fair but I think the majority of people are buying jerseys for the brand on the front rather than the manufacturer on the tag. Whether they’re made by Adidas or Fanatics, quality expectations from NHL QC would be the same. Either way, people will speak with their wallets as that’s the one language companies like this all understand.

yeah, you would think a portion of the ad revenue should subsidize the cost of the jersey for fans... but i'm not sure the teams see it that way. 😅

the issue with fanatics is never who they staff it's the venture capital backing that inevitably leads to rot and degradation. give it 5 years

Again, I am cautiously optimistic about the NHL/Fanatics take over especially after the Nike mess that happened. Nike and Underarmour respectively are very very abysmal with Jerseys. I think having Keith and Dom who came from Reebok and over saw Jersey production before is Fanatics doing a correct thing and not wanting to make mistakes with a sport they have full control over. Do it right, use what the is already good and successful and just slap the Fanatics logo on and make sure they are on top of it. We will see how it goes at the retail level tho.

You know what I’d love to see? A cut like the CCM jerseys from the 90’s or the RBK cut. The adidas cut never fit me right, by the sounds and looks of it, not much has changed from the fit of adidas. I’ve always had to wear a jersey from previous eras to fit right. Kinda hard when your hometown team is the Kraken. Guess I’ll keep repping my Silvertips jersey until Fanatics ever gets it right.

Without the dimples, it's going to make getting an authentic replica more reasonable than getting a mic as they just rushed the launch with recycling the Adidas template. I mean if it's like with the indos with the layered number stitching and 3d logos it will be more reasonable for fans to get what is essentially a lighter weight version of a mic plus you're not paying over $400 for it. Huge L that they kept the stick laces

If I was a ducks fan I would 100% pre order that jersey

The fabric has pretty well been the same for the last 30 years. It’s just CCM AirKnit at the end of the day

Will they still do reverse retros
@icethetics4 ай бұрын
I'm not sure we'll see the Reverse Retro again since that was really an Adidas initiative. Still possible, but I imagine Fanatics would want to come up with their own league-wide program at some point.

Can we have the crest higher up at chest level vs near the stomach? To me it's not proportionately looking, and if it is for advertising purposes, then I wouldn't want to buy any.
