I don't get how "families are forever" thing works: If my wife and I are sealed to our children, but them my wife is sealed to her parents, and I'm sealed to mine, how does that work? And if my parents are sealed to their parents, and my kids get married and start their own families, and get sealed to them, how are families together? Is it going to be like one big spider web? I thought each sealed couple got their own planet. It's all very confusing and doesn't make sense.

+bowrudder As in you will continue your relationships into the next life. And the entire planet things comes down to maybe, The reason why I say this is, that is thought because those who enter the celestial Kingdom will be given the Knowledge of God as a gift from him. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time arenot worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Ty Manner Great verse. I love that we were adopted into his family, and now are children of God by faith. _"but ye have received the Spirit of adoption"_ *(Romans **8:15**)* _"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."_ *(John **1:12**)* But Jesus said we won't be married in heaven (Mt 22). And Paul said it's even better if you don't marry (1 Corinthians 7).

You’re probably not from Arizona but hundreds of thousands of Arizonans are members of the Church. Mesa, the second largest city in the state, was founded by Latter-day Saints as well as many others. The news reports on things of interest to its audience, obviously a new temple being dedicated would be of interest to those who are part of the Church and likely their friends and family. Lastly, we are Christians. The word literally means “follower of Christ” in its original Greek. We follow Christ.

Sonicase you seem to be very interested in the LDS church but you show your interest with much malcontent. Read the Book of Mormon as Moroni promises before casting another mean spirited stone and if you do perhaps your life can change as mine has: 3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts. 4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a SINCERE HEART, with real intent, HAVING FAITH IN CHRIST, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

George Washington- You are suggesting to read a gospel that as the Mormon church proclaims was written by a man who became an angel and gave to Joseph Smith??? Since this is what the church teaches then it would fall under the passage in Galatians about any other gospel that comes from man or angel other than what I have given.....Bit of a contradiction to Gods law don't you think??? Oh and I almost forgot...Revering an angel over Christ by putting his likeness over all temples???? Bit of idolatry verses respect don't you think????

Loran Garland it's real simple. If I heard of a church founded in the USA by man who claimed to have had a glorious vision of God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ, I would be interested. Then the man translates a book that contains 455 pages that testifies of the divinity of Jesus Christ and his appearing to the ancient people of this continent, I find it very intriguing. The Book of Mormon was translated by a man who had no education, a book that had 100's of characters with 100's of names, cities, territories, economies, with currencies described, and all laced together with some of the most beautiful language ever spoke of about Jesus Christ completed in 65 days, i would challenge you to find a man who could do this. As for the Angel Moroni, he testifies of Jesus Christ, and was instrumental at restoring Christ's church again upon the earth...he was commanded to do so. There is nothing idolatry about it. The Book of Mormon speaks more about Jesus Christ then any other book on the earth...God never said there would not be prophets. You have to be a prophet to proclaim there are no prophets. I could provide you many scriptures that claim that Christ church would be restored, beginning with Isaiah. Loran, what is so offensive with what Moroni wrote in the scripture that i provided to you? They are beautiful words that testify of Jesus Christ?

George Washingon by a 14 year old no less????? Look at your time line...The book of Mormon was written and published when he was in his 20's. As far as the beautiful Victorian era language that it was written in. Don't think it was around during the time Moroni was a man. But God did give us direction in Deuteronomy and Galatians about false prophets and other doctrines. If a prophet who speaks in the name of the lord gives a prophecy that is not true then he is not a prophet of God. Joseph Smith gave many such prophecies and revelations in the name of the Lord which did not "come to pass" Nor can they...So he would be a false prophet. As far as the BoM. The church teaches that it was written by Moroni when he was a man. Then he died but buried the golden plates. He then came back as an angel and told Joseph Smith where to find them. That would fall under Galatians as another doctrine other than what God had given and that it came from a man and angel. Thus making the BoM fall under this rule by God. So with 2 rules God gave us for prophets and doctrines.. Joseph Smith and the Mormon church strike out. (sorry for the pun...its baseball season)

Baptism of/for the Dead is demeaning to other people's faith because it suggests that the decisions they've made in their lifetime is insufficient. If I were to find out that you had done this in my grandfather's, my brother's, or other family member's name, I would be furious. Since we find this interpretation of Biblical scripture to be contextually inaccurate, please leave us out of your rituals. This is truly insulting.

I think you may be misunderstanding the reasons why Latter-day Saints perform ordinances by proxy for the dead. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the doctrine of needing to have certain ordinances performed is a crucial and necessary part of the purpose of life on Earth. However, unfortunately not everyone has the opportunity to learn of and choose to accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ, then subsequently following through with receiving those ordinances in their mortal life. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints believe in the doctrine that God loves all His children equally and wants them all to have the opportunity to receive this gospel if they so choose. So with this comes the need to perform the ordinances posthumously, by proxy, for the dead that did not have the opportunity to receive the ordinances in their mortal life. Then, those that have had those ordinances performed have the chance to either accept the ordinances performed on their behalf, or to reject them. Nothing is ever done to take away the freedom to choose for oneself. I think this is such a beautiful doctrine to believe, and is a wonderful view into God's love for everyone.

GsBBoyDan When you come to understand that Jesus laid down his life willingly to pay for your sins, you might look at it differently. Mormons always like a good sign. Check out what Jesus said: - - - - - The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” But the temple he had spoken of was his body. After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken. (John 2:18-22) _ _ _ _ _ No one takes [my life] from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and authority to take it up again. (John 10:18)
