I found out through DNA test, etc. that I am a descendent of the Hamilton, Stewart/Stuart. My 7x great-grandmother was Catherine Montgomery (maiden name) and she married to a Alexander Stewart/Stuart and after he died while she was pregnant with her second child she married James Patrick Calhoun and they immigrated to the US. She had several children with him and was murdered in Abbeville, SC in 1760. She was also grandmother of the Vice President of the US John Caldwell Calhoun. I love learning of my history.

I to am a desendent of the Hamilton's and the Stuart's howdy cousin. If your related to these families you most likely have royal blood. If you didn't know this already.
@johnnys47826 жыл бұрын
Your also related to Alexander Hamilton First U.S Treasurer. Same family.

I too have done a DNA & ancestry tree back to Lindsay & Hamilton’s & Stewart clans .. I find this very interesting.. I grew up an orphan of the state .. & knew nothing of my ancestors

The echo is amazing, longest in the world, of a building like this don’t know about anything else. You don’t need to make loud noise for the echo, if you whisper someone standing at the other side will hear, no secrets told in there! It’s funny seeing the glass roof, when I was little it was still the stone roof, but they put that glass one up a long time ago.

Nice stone work,but it looks like the furnace was put in much later going by the rubbish brick work housing it,this is much older than dates given.

His accent was so thick I could not understand what he was saying but it was an interesting video anyway, I think you needed to put English subtitles at the bottom, just saying.

I visited the mausoleum....years ago when I lived in Lanark,,,,,,,,,what I didn't know was the keepers house was just up the road a wee bit id loved to have seen it to...... could you tell me where the chimney for the coal furnace was,,,,,,,,,or it exited at thanks
@gothicgman7 жыл бұрын
it was in the keepers house they were 2 chimneys one for the keepers house and one for the mausoleum
@sidecar1477 жыл бұрын
thanks for the info,,,,,,,,,,,is there any future plans to restore the keepers house ? its an interesting building,the stone work has the same knurled finish to it ,,,,,and whoed figure there was a horizontal chimney running from the mausolieum .to it under ground ,,,,,,,it looks so sad with the roof falling in and the graffiti all over it,,,,,,,even if the woods were cleared back from it a little

That's a shame, would have been really interesting if he had been near the microphone so you could hear what he was saying. Walking on the stones was louder than the history.....shame, waste of time. Hope it is re-filmed at some point

I came to Scotland in 2006 with my family for a holiday. We managed to get directions to this place. But when we got there it was closed. And twice we tried unsuccessfully to gain entry. Maybe next time i'm over. and i'll managed to get to see the inside.

If you ask at the nearby Low Parks Museum they should give you a tour.
