Super cool. To be a true internet computer some actual $ expense comparisons for work done here vs AWS or like. Otherwise it’s too abstract. What’s the cost is in my head. I love the idea of a decentralized mechanism and want it to succeed. Anyway. Love it

I’m sure this is a stupid question and already has a solution, but what prevents a malicious party to purchase tokens and vote (buying the vote) on a proposal that would only benefit this entity. Toy example: Facebook creates its dapp and buys the vote on whether we should allow user data to be sold.

So like any other crypto-nomically secured system, the answer is scarcity and incentive: if would be possible to buy up enough tokens, but at what cost and what gain? If the system (i.e. tokens) is sufficiently decentralised, then this would be difficult to do if there are many in opposition to, say, facebook. Still, like any other governance system, it's not perfect and corruption is always on the horizon.

@@jonabirdd Yeah I’m hoping the sufficient decentralization would solve this. But I don’t think it would cost Facebook a lot. Even if it pours in billions of dollars, this money is not lost, they would even get interest on it. And the gain is huge. They might get to maintain their market share, which is worth 100s of billions. I’m all for a dapp version of Facebook that doesn’t sell our data.

ICP is not trying to take over Facebook it just wants Facebook to build on it. Eventually, because of the Tech Facebook will if they want to maintain their market share.
