If he was poor and is spending beyond his means to appear wealthy, it make sense that he might have an inferiority complex because he wants to perceive as a successful, wealthy person but that's not the case because he has a net worth in the billions, why can't he spend it on luxury goods when it doesn't even make a dent on his bank account? It's not illegal or morally wrong for a person who is wealthy to spend on luxury goods. One might argue that it puts food on the table for the people who craft, transport and sell the goods. If luxury goods disappear overnight, many people will be out of a job.
