@@maya993 I feel this exact sentiment so strongly. There's a part of me that mourns the loss that I'll never be able to connect with religion properly as all of my religious friends can, but it's media like FAITH that lets me interact and grapple with the ideas in a way that doesn't trigger my flight or fight response. It’s not silly at all! A lot of people have a very childish view of spirituality, and it DOES turn away a lot of people. His actual words were, "don't fall; get hoyt." My wife and I just stopped in our tracks and looked at each other, then started cracking up. It completely caught us off guard because you wouldn't expect your baby's first dialogue to basically be a whole ass sentence lol. When I told my parents about it they said, "it's better than YOUR first word; your grandfather would always joke around and mess with you so you repeated the word 'SHOWGIRLS' with enthusiasm." Yea over here in Southeast Asia, black magic and hauntings and paranormal things are very common especially in rural areas lmao like people talk about seeing tuyuls or genderuwos or pocongs or kuyangs like talking about the weather. Sending hexes and curses to someone is very widely practiced, that people know what to look for when weird things happen, such as: go around your house or your shop and dig around, and you'll probably find a packet of soil (usually soil from someone's grave) or a clump of hair wrapped inside a paper with spells written on it. There's a lot of interesting and spooky stuff here

Talking about Garcia using a weapon, in our weird west tabletop session we had three big things that could stop the unholy. Consecrated Silver bullets, Consecrated Salt, and one called “Kerosene Sulfate.” Our alchemist coated little glass vials with silver and filled them with the chemical. Silver let the bullet in, then the sulfate set them on fire on the inside.

The whole thing about John's note was wow, because I thought he was being unintentionally gaslit by the psychiatrist cause to the psychiatrist the whole story would seem like john has major delusions, despite all of it being real. Though slightly disappointed Wendi never asked about the "fight it John" line, cause it has a similar color to the being of light, and I don't think satan would want John to fight back.

That's because the voice saying "FIGHT IT, JOHN" isn't Satan, it's God (or a guardian angel). If you remember Airdorf and Wendigoon mention several verses of 'Satan appearing with the guise of an angel', the figure of light that John pleaded to on the initial exorcism was Satan, who was in the guise of a holy being. Also, Satan is named "The Father of All Lies", and he WAS one of God's most beautiful archangels before he fell, taking a third of all the angels down with him. So to summarize: Satan took the form of the being of light during the initial exorcism, and the voice is actually God (or his guardian angel) telling John to fight the demon during the Alu fight.

If there are any two people that I've been longing to hear talk to each other, it's Wendigoon and Airdorf. FAITH was one of my most favorite horror game series and I'm glad I could finally hear him talk about it with one of my most favorite youtubers! :)

Thanks for this interview! Though I ain't religious, I love that the both of you discussed the game and its relevancy to your experiences with being practicing Christians. Really sheds a light on the nuances of the game and gives a perspective I couldn't have been able to understand myself.

I think Faith is a fantastic piece of art, be it as a critical piece, or otherwise, however Airdorf being so upfront and so intelligent with his wording and his intentions with the game is so damn refreshing, the game never comes off as preachy or "love god or else" messages that a lot of judeochristian media has, and the fact that Father Garcia, a Spanish speaking man wearing a cross made of wood that has forsaken the clerical order in order to fight the actual threats that harm actual people is so very like the typical Mexican small town old father, tired, grumpy, but understading of man and his plight. Fantastic stuff Wendigoon, thank you for the interview.

I bought this purely because it is such a breath of fresh air to have a game out there that actually gives Christianity proper shine. Not some corrupt or villainous religion like so many enjoy portraying them as, but one of humility and unwavering devotion even in the face of great evil. Excellent work.

This timing for me was wild. I just started listening to the Chilluminati podcast a couple weeks ago while I work and just listened to the Airdorf episode last Thursday, picked up Faith after that, and played it over stream with my friends over the weekend when this interview comes out so I can listen to it at work on Monday.

John quoting, “faith without works is death also,” was such a well written moment. You can interpret it as John grimly acknowledging his failure to stop Gary. A dark acceptance that he tried so hard but ultimately was not strong enough. Didn’t truly believe in himself. Or, you can see it as John mocking Gary knowing that even if he dies he finally has his faith in himself again and he only got that far because he had finally redeemed himself.

Super Miriam was easily my favorite part of the trilogy- I was so exasperated after fighting the first two forms that when I got hit during the finale I sat back in my chair in frustration only to jolt forward again upon realizing I wasn't dead. John's prayer during that final boss gave me goosebumps, it gave me that second wind I needed to push on

Oh man what a trip, I played Faith a while ago and I really loved this game, it was really unique and I felt it did the retro presentation really well. Another relatively indie horror game that blew me away was Signalis, it plays like an old Resident Evil/Silent Hill type of game (heavily inspired) but has an atmosphere totally of its own. Super mind boggling at times and a LOT of questions even after playing multiple times. Would love to see if you’d cover it I think it deserves all the recognition possible. Awesome work as usual ❤️

I really appreciate that Airdorf used religion as more than just an easy aesthetic for his scares. So many indie horrors that use religious themes just have demons and Satan or maybe some Divine Comedy or Revelations references and nothing deeper.
