That was a funny moment at the 2-3 minute mark where we saw Nelson state “this is just your standard main line here” and then the transfer to his opponent saying “wow this is a crazy game, so many curve balls” hahaha

Deploing a dubious gambit to confuse a 700 rating points weaker opponent doesn't seem fair or necessary to me :)
@arrowofkira56587 ай бұрын
The power of opening preparation. This gambit is really mean and it's so easy to fall into it as caro player because in most lines you pin that knight with the bishop so if you don't know this or play too quickly you fall for it

I finally broke through the 1200 range after watching your videos. It's extremely helpful to hear the mindset of a good player. It's helped me to not blunder or hang my own pieces as much.
@xian27087 ай бұрын
What did breaking through the 1200 range entail for you? Asking for a friend..😂
@88mphDrBrown5 ай бұрын
You should be able to get to somewhere around 16-1700 just by not blundering, decent time management, and slowly improving your position. It's boring chess, but would definitely get you somewhere around that elo. Until that range It's mostly just a blunder standoff.

Don't feel bad Cameron. I learned a lot from both of you watching this. Nelson would have had me checkmated way earlier in the game.

The videos where you ruin the players in the opening can be hard to watch. They already are unlikely to win going in and then six moves in you wreck em it’s an inevitability.

Nelson, I love this series but can I suggest that when you do this you play each opponent once as white and once as black since players often play each color very different and will give greater insight into how they approach things differently at various elo? More likely we can see if there's a difference in attacking and defending strengths etc.

Love the series (and your other videos too!), but I think it would be good to avoid tricky opening traps - I think it shines best when you and your opponent enter the middlegame in more or less equal position. It allows the viewers to get the most out of the thinking process, as in case of this game for example, after the trap is executed, it's just beating a dead horse (no offence to Cameron, he defended really well, especially under the pressure of time and so many people viewing these videos). This format allows to nicely see what difference in thinking leads to a position advantage and eventual win when playing solid openings - when playing traps, it doesn't require a grandmaster to understand what went wrong ^^

I think you would’ve ended up Checkmating him had he not lost on time he didn’t have many options with his king and like you pointed out if he took the rook with his knight you would swoop in with your Queen and it would be game over I would’ve liked to have seen the actual checkmate but good game you really outplayed him like a guy with 500 more pts ratings should 😅thanks for the game enjoyed watching
