@@DavidLS1 correct. Isaac was built after the fact. Yet Isaac felt a desire to self-destruct in "Identity" by wilfully setting loose an EMP through the ship that destroyed all the Kaylon but somehow left the ship itself undamaged.

Having said that I will say one more thing we don't know whose parts they may have used because he was from recycled parts and I bring it up because of the fact he did not have that ship that all the other Kline's have he and his behavior is in many ways entirely new and yet they make it now that even though they built him and he was not built by the original builders they make that they reiterate that because they want people to believe they built himself when they mentioned it in passing and if you pay attention and see the episode over again they say themselves he is made from recycled parts, so whose parts was he made from we know that there was a civil war however brief, and it wasn't just between biologicals and mechanical kalon either there's a very specifically implied idea that there were mechanical kalon who they fought against, so again it begs the question whose parts was Isaac made from, the fact is his own people didn't trust him either, and why should that be, name of the opinion that he was built from the recycled parts of a kalon who was not on the side of his brother in and in fact went against them trying to protect the organic kalon. It's just my feeling.

This is something I adore and admire about Seth. He doesn’t shy away from complicated emotions or that things don’t have to be black and white. That you can show all the shades of grey and it adds depth to the story and provokes feelings and thoughts from the viewers. He doesn’t create work with the intention of it selling or aiming to make people love it. It just happens. He doesn’t make it easy. Everything he has created has been complicated and messy and none of the characters are every perfect or fully adored by the public or always right.

Them dealing with Isaac's betrayal, while well done, felt shoehorn in since we spent five episodes after Identity with no one actually giving him any grief or underlying anger. I think he even spent some time with Marcus in one episode. This episode should have been after Identity. I think you can even watch it in that order and say Charley is a new character introduced that we will see later.

On one hand, I feel a little bad for Isaac getting so much hate, but on the other hand, the hate he gets is not entirely irrational. Also, if Seth MacFarlane went for the easily forgiven trope where everyone practically forgets Isaac betrayed them, it would just be nonsensical. Also, by betraying his own race after betraying the Union, that casts doubt on where Isaac's loyalties lie

They resolved the issue in season 2 with a quick scene of Mercer saying he would take responsibility for Isaac, Claire had a quick scene in another episode about breaking up and for the rest of the season it was back to normal. Until this premiere, which should have been done back in season 2 instead. Of the post-"Identity" episodes, which one felt there weakest?

This was easily the best episode ever, I loved it. It made me cry, it really made me feel so many emotions, it was awesome. One thing though I thought it cheapened with Issac being brought back at the end emotionally. I think they should have brought him back in the next episode, I think that would have been better.

Man this was f*ked up. They managed to push someone who has no emotion to suicide... isaac was my favorite character and i was so glad he came through in season 2. But i wasnt expecting this.

Isaac has emotions. That's one of the things that's easy to miss about him. He'll describe a series of parameters that are analogous to a human emotion but refuse to let you put a human label on them. If he's having fun he'll call it informative or say he got valuable data. When he was missing Claire after trying to break up with her he mentioned that his algorithms were messed up in her absence. But he'd never let you actually call that happiness or longing.

@@hagamapama he doesnt feel them, he just understands what they appear to be. Theres an episode where they do give him emotion. But it cant stay because his system overrides it. They wouldnt do an episode where he is given emotion if he actually had it to begin with.

This is a really deep episode is my opinion. It is interesting to see that with the cold hard math suicide is viewed as a logical outcome. I am not saying its right, its just that in a morbid kind of way it makes sense. The brain is like any other machine. Every decision that is made almost every variable is considered. I don't think there is anyone who hasn't thought about it once in there lifetime. You have Issac, a machine devoid of any emotions. Sees that it best for the productivity of the crew that he must be permanently shut down. I think it makes the issue of mental health more heartbreaking and even more important. Also I think it perfectly covers the moral that it is easy to hate but to forgive requires true strength.

This episode gave more of insight into what could be our future with ai development of emotions i know its a tv show but this could be a reality one day where ai develops emotions so much so that they commit suicide in the ways of how Isaac concluded they would be better off without him which in cases is one of the thoughts of people who feel suicidal

Isaac in many ways and bear in mind the key on themselves say that he is made up of recycled parts of others, they do not trust him, which makes the question why considering they built him, or at least they claim to have, which makes me wonder if he really came from their rebuilding of him from recycled parts what if in fact he was at some point in time from one of the kalon that rebelled against them and was part of the very brief civil War between them and the organics if infact he was one of the kalon who was part of the organic fight against the other metallic kalon, then it with all 6 why he doesn't have a chip for feelings the others have and why one would not be suitable to him,

At this point in the story (for the viewers) it was still ambiguous. The reveal during her story arc makes both her saving Isaac & the Kaylon that much more poignant and heroic
