It's nice to see that there are also several elderly employees working at Sainsbury's. In comparison, literally nobody retires from Aldi in Germany. As soon as employees gets older, they are fired or bullied until they quit.

I Canada they usually have to retire early because they can’t physically do the job anymore because they’ve spent years standing and have leg and back and wrist issues.

I have learned so much about the behind the scenes of running a mega grocery store. If I could go back 25 yrs, this would have been a great job for me. Now I understand why supermarkets have to take away certain items as they are not cost effective and waste space. Great education for young people in the business. Very impressed! Now I get why Safeway in Canada does what they do.

Who in their mind would store the bread as these guys do? I can't imagine a customer who would get on their knees just to reach a load of bread? Basically, they are just wasting the bread which is very unlikely to be sold if stored at the bottom of the shelve.

Having worked in a grocery store the head office people always drove me up the wall because most of them didn’t have a clue what it’s like to actually work in a store and they are so focused on numbers that they don’t pay attention what employees are telling them when things will and won’t work in that store. Laura looks like Matt lewis from little Britain in drag.

In my country, some of the manufacturers or distributors contribute staff to the supermarket to help display the products and promote them. Thus the supermarket doesn't bear the cost of that staff directly.

Can anyone tell me what the U.S. equivalent to a Sainsbury's would be?
@stephanievecchia59043 жыл бұрын
Depends, we have more regional-based grocery corporations. Kroger is one of the few corporations that span the entire U.S.A., however, the actual stores are named differently across the country. For example, Kroger stores in my area (CO) are called King Soopers, whereas in other parts of the U.S. it's called City Market, etc. For stores that contain groceries AND apparel/home goods, the biggest nationwide chains are Walmart (demographic would be most similar to a Morrisons), Target (demographic would be most similar to a M&S) and Whole Foods (demographic would be most similar to a Waitrose). Having lived in the states as well as southern England, I'd choose a Sainsburys or Tesco any day.
@SLone32513 жыл бұрын
@@stephanievecchia5904 Yeah, I'm on the West Coast in the U.S. and we only have Whole Foods, Ralphs, Vons, Albertsons, Walmart, Target. I just felt Sainsbury's seemed like a Ralphs/Vons but with some extra stuff like clothes.
@aaronkahokuolani12913 жыл бұрын
Here in the Midwest we also have Kroger and Walmart. Target is updating more stores with bigger grocery selections. Another regional we have is Meijer. selection looks similar to Sainbury's with some additions of thing like garden, automotive, and sporting goods.
@SLone32513 жыл бұрын
@@aaronkahokuolani1291 Yes! I have seen Meijer in some retail channel vlogs. Sadly there are only in the Midwest but the stores look really nice.
