My fleet of DJI quadcopters includes the Phantom 3 Standard, the Phantom 3 Pro, the Mavic 1 Pro, the Mavic Pro Platinum, the Mavic 2 Pro, the Mavic 2 Zoom, the Air 1, and the Air 3, all bought sight unseen and used on eBay. Calibrating the IMU, compass, obstacle avoidance sensors, and camera gimbal was all it took for those vintage drones to fly and film as though they were brand new. KZbin's algorithm surprised me today by suggesting I check out this fresh look at DJI's success story, which includes footage and photos of the surprisingly young man whose electronics engineering genius propelled DJI from humble beginnings to world market domination. Liked and subscribed.

This was very enlightening. Thank you for making this video! I was an early fan of GoPro and thought they were very innovative. But being in the tropics I would always end up with overheating issues. With each new release GoPro would claim to have fixed overheating and improved battery life. Time after time I would pick up the new model only to realize that they overheat easily here also. So I bought a DJI Action 4 and that all changed. In over a year it has never overheated and in my opinion is a much superior product to the GoPro offerings. Now I have the DJI Action 5 (wow), DJI Gimble, DJI Mic 2, DJI Neo and will continue to use DJI products simply because they have proven time and again that they are high quality and reliable products. Oh, and because of the Neo (great fun) I see another DJI drone in my near future.

Wow, that video brought back a memory! Back in the late 90s/early 2000s, I saw my first-ever quadcopter at the TRW swap meet in El Segundo. This thing was huge, probably 3 feet across, with wooden arms! It was mesmerizing to watch it fly, even though they kept it pretty low to the ground (around 5 feet). It drew a massive crowd. This was way before DJI was even around. I have a feeling one of the aerospace engineers from the nearby companies built it. I remember thinking how amazing it was, especially since the only other remote-controlled aircraft I knew of back then were gas and electric helicopters (which always seemed super dangerous!). I even remember asking the pilot how he was able to keep it balanced. He spoke of some technology on it that would keep it balanced for hovering on its own in one spot.

Nice documentary. I have seen videos of the drone based light shows held in China, where something like EIGHT THOUSAND drones fly in synchrony. Amazing stuff.! One question is HOW do they do this? The bandwidth is too limited for addressing each individually in any complex manner. Plus, in an urban environment, there is likely to be interfering noise.

So basically DJI had a choice to choose between making drones strictly for corporations and government stuff. Or go the second route and go consumer. And this quite possibly was the best decision that they ever made. If they had gone with their first route nobody would really know who they are today. I mean people in China would. But they ended up going for the second consumer route. And this in turn caused their popularity and name to explode, now there's very few people on the planet that don't know the name DJI . Now in 2024 DJI is the dominant company for drones. Few companies can even come close. And their drones are incredibly popular among millions and millions of people. I have had three DJI drones. And my current one is the Air 3.

Excellent video. Can you explain or do a video on the drone brand called “ Specta”? It’s supposedly a new quadcopter startup , based in Hong Kong. The bizarre thing is that the two quads they offer the Specta Mini and Specta Air are DJI quads without the DJI markings. Even the Smart Phone App is 99% identical to that of DJI? When you open a Specta Mini and compare to an open DJI Mini 2 or 4K you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between the two. Thanks for the video and I look forward to learning what is found regarding Specta.

DJI from design to research and development and chips are their own production, not subject to any foreign constraints, drone patent DJI accounted for more than 95%, drones do not need high-end chips, China's own production of 7-48 nanometres can be used, the US military is also stealing procurement, because there is no more cost-effective drones in the world, so no matter how the United States sanctions are a joke, Huawei has also broken through its own chip at present, so 🇺🇸 what can be done in addition to sanctions, I just want to say that the West should not force DJI into a real military enterprise, once it is converted to military, the annual output is tens of millions of units, various models will have, how many troops in the United States can endure, look at the Russian-Ukrainian war to know that the war mode has changed.
