Taxes should NEVER be used to build a stadium for a BILLION dollar business
@ChadHargis2 ай бұрын
This would be detrimental to the cities that build these stadiums. The reason public funds are used is because the tax revenue generated by the facility and the increased revenue to local businesses offsets the cost. If a city wants to attracting businesses and jobs, then they need to work together.
@iramroj97882 ай бұрын
@ the problem is these stadiums never generate the revenue to cover the amount of tax money that they steal
@jaja27532 ай бұрын
Not in all cases. In cities that already have accommodations for the biggest events in the world I completely agree. Nashville would get many of these events with the right arena for the event. They have everything else necessary so it makes sense to create a venue. The business owners and citizens in the city have a lot to gain from hosting these events. What Nashville is overlooking is they have 2 venues already almost complete. Bridgestone arena and Nissa stadium just needs upgrades due to their age, would be much cheaper and get the same results. Also all tax dollars used should come from the city and county, the state should pay 0.
@recrdholdr2 ай бұрын
That statement is short-sighted. This stadium isn't just for the Titans, it will be host to hundreds of other events every year and bring Billions in revenue to the Nashville area. The stadium is just the tip of the iceberg, including hotels, bars/restaurants, tourism destinations, flights, rental cars, etc. Not only that, but once the stadium is built the city has plans to build a whole new riverfront area next to the stadium.

I can understand the potential financial benefits of such projects, but I am still leary of using so much public money for a basically private business. So what does the city really get? 9-10 home games a year, and maybe , an occasional playoff game? Chance to host a SB once every what….10 years or so? And then 2-3 mega concerts a year, at most? IDK. Seems pricey still. What would make it more palatable to me is if say 40-45% of team ownership was offered to the local fans, or however Green Bay has its team ownership set up. Then , in the future, when new stadium time rolls around again (and it will) owners can’t threaten and blackmail communities with moving the team.
@BartlettTFD20 күн бұрын
Metro Nashville Government has said they FULLY expect this new super entertainment venue to be used 12 months a year with NFL football possibly taking up less than half of that time period. With approximately half of scheduled games played away from Nashville, that would mean the group responsible for attracting all of these must-see concerts, etc will be quite busy! OTHERWISE, these cash flow expectations will hit Davidson County taxpayers particularly hard.

It's a waste of money. Titans stadium that is. The team hasn't even been close to a Super Bowl in over twenty years. They think they'll sell more tickets if they build the new stadium, but truth is this place will only sell for those who wanna see what all the hype is about, but after the Titans lose and lose each year that will all fade away and this stadium will only be known for other events and the Titans will be second fiddle to music acts at this stadium. It's sad that cities continue replacing decent buildings just to keep up with the Joneses. I miss the days when there was a history to certain stadiums like Dodger's Stadium etc...They have torn down things to hurry up and put new glass towers into the downtown skyline just to say we're progressive as they remove the culture of what made this city

The place that was once called LP Field of Nashville is now Nissan Stadium. So many good memories. I really hope that I can save enough money to attend a football game at the current Nissan. This is going to be tough for me personally because all we really needed to do was renovate the old one. But just like other places in sports all things must come to an end. At least the Tennessee Titans will still be in Nashville. That part alone makes me want to shout for joy. And the best part about this current Nissan Stadium that the players are still playing in, all the bleacher seats, top rows and lower levels are both red and blue. Just like the Titans true colors. A strawberry🍓 tone of red and a blueberry blue. It's like bringing jam and jelly together. And how could you not love the stars sword and capital T for Titans.🔥 Fire in the logo

I have mixed feelings about my tax dollars being used for this stadium. My issue about Nissan in general is the awful traffic it causes. Every time there is an event they basically turn East Nashville into an island since they close so many streets. I think it's fair to say at this point that it has never been run well. Ownership has always been fickle and weak. So, building a $2,000,000,000 stadium makes perfect sense! There are many satellite parking lots. All the State lots are typically available during game days. Local businesses sell access to their lots too. By not having a parking lot, it actually helps local businesses and residents make money. When Michigan, one of the largest stadiums in the country, expanded their facility, they added no parking. This was at the request of locals who were selling parking on their property and making considerable extra income during the season.

Santiago Bernabeu, home of Real Madrid opened in 1947 and had many upgrades during it´s life, the last being a major renovation and upgrade of over 1.2 billion dollars. 0:10 The correct pronunciation of “nissan” is nee sahn. Not nisssssan or however you brits try to say it. If you are going to talk about an American stadium maybe its a good idea to learn how to say things.

Another reason why I HATE THE NFL now. Once again, another damn DOME. And don’t give me that “iTs a ReTrAcTaBlE rOoF” BS. All the “retractable roof” stadiums are NEVER opened.
@briansavage93222 күн бұрын
Its not retractable. Its basically a giant skylight made of plastic.
