We are in Springfield, Illinois visiting the final resting place of Abraham Lincoln and his family at the Lincoln Tomb. I will show you the tomb as we take a tour and I will also tell you details on how Lincoln's body was moved around numerous times plus a grave robbery attempt. I will also show you the temporary receiving vault down the hill from the tomb where Lincoln was first kept after his funeral. I'm a Long Islander now but up until 5 years ago I spent most of my life in Bloomington about 30 miles from here. If you make it to Bloomington check out the David Davis mansion. Davis was an attorney that was responsible for getting Lincoln on the Republican ballot. When Lincoln was elected he selected Davis to be on the Surpream Court.

I'm not a fan of the term "rest peacefully". His body isn't resting. His soul left his body. The body is just an empty shell now. Wherever his soul is, that's where he's resting. moving his body around doesn't disturb his soul since that's been long gone from his body.
