@@magnes1410 I wouldn't be so sure, I'd like to see more of him for sure and was upset to see him get stabbed. But I can also see why the writers would do that for shock value, also for the irony, he survived his clan getting raided and murdered in his oyabuns assassination attempt only to die by getting stabbed alone at night by a jealous clan member. It's like Sato said to samantha, the yakuza world "is dangerous, people get hurt, sometimes they go missing...". This perfectly shows that it is indeed a dangerous world where anything can happen. Before, he wanted to leave the yakuza, he thought the longer he stayed the more likely his fate would end up like Kumes. And that's what happened, the day he was going to leave he ends up helping his oyabun and is given kumes rank, then also ends up dying, it's sad but poetic

Just finished season 2 yesterday. It's been a long time since I've watched series as good as this. Amazing cast, amazing scenery, great plot and pace. I visited Japan half a year ago and this production just fuels my desire to go back ASAP :)

I wonder if HBO or another network have plans to adapt Jake Adelstein's other books (The Last Yakuza and his upcoming book Tokyo Noir) one day? I hope so. Can't wait for a Tokyo Vice season two UK release date, I wish we had Max over here because if we did I'd be watching season two right now, I want to finish the series before I read the book, and I'm already hoping it'll be renewed for a third and probably final season eventhough season two isn't even finished yet! 🔥🔥🔥

I hope the actors got to practice Japanese language & culture during all this downtime. It is difficult to watch “Jake” navigate Japanese culture as if he just got off the airplane when he is supposed to be better at Japanese than some Japanese. His character is supposed to be so immersed in the culture, but he behaves like he read the Cliff’s Notes on culture. Having said all of that, I’m a huge Michael Mann fan, so I’ll watch.

We still don't know that, people have survived worse, but it kinda made sense that he got killed. Tozawa can't get to his Oyabun without taking out Sato first, i honestly cried when he got stabbed, I want his character to live, but I doubt he's gonna make it. But I belive that's what separates a great show from a good show. It doesn't give the audience what they want but tells the story in an intended way.
