The Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre is the world's first and oldest orangutan sanctuary. One of the world's most endangered primates, orangutans have become vulnerable as a result of logging and forest clearing. The centre was established in 1964 to rehabilitate injured and orphaned orangutans and it is located in Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve in Sabah, Borneo. We begin our day at the Outdoor Nursery, watching these amazing creatures playing and feeding before walking through the reserve to the Outdoor Feeding Platform.

Malaysian oil palm plantations now follow something called the mpso standards which regulates their involvement in deforestation
@cannotwait2230

"MSPO" but it's BS, a standard make by a council where members are from Palm Oil agencies and chair by a Palm oil company's CEO. Borneo's palm oil plantation area size still increasing every year and they even suggest to gift away orang utan as diplomacy mascot.

It is good that they are making some steps to protect what little of the rainforest remains but after what people in Borneo told me who have lived there their entire lives I am a little dubious about any government scheme to be honest. Similar to the sustainable palm oil tags.

If we are all so called well educated. 1) Please read about Sustainable Forestry. 2) Human population: 10000 BCE 4 millions people. 1000 BCE 50 millions people. Year 0 190 millions people. Year 1804 1 billions people. 1970 3 billions people. 1998 6 billions people. 2022 8 billions people. Est 2037 9 billions people. Takes thousands of year to reach 100 millions people. Now only 200 years, from 1 billions to 8 billions people exponentially increase. How do we stop deforestation? No you can not stop it. However sustainable forestry is a must to balances society's demands for forest products and benefits. We live in tropical rain forest. The number of population increase dramatically, how do we stop deforestation? Do we need to live in caves & on trees? Then the answer back to sustainable forestry. We can not stop deforestation, however we can stop illegal deforestation. Conclusion: 1) We can not stop deforestation. 2) We can do sustainabel forestry. 3) We can stop illegal deforestation. 4) If a movement want to stop deforestation, they need to mention clearly about illegal deforestion, loud & clear.

Just because deforestation is legal does not make it ok. I agree it is a very tough problem to tackle though
