Almost all YBs we test are -1. It’s rare that we get a -17, but there are a few out there!

Do you guys have any plans for locality testing, especially for boas? I dream of being able yo parse boas via testing, especially mixes etc. would make me feel a lot better about lesser known breeders/lineages too, let alone adding a ton of value to mixed locality boas, and for trying to breed smaller boas etc. Such cool stuff regardless!

We would love to do that project and make such tests available…but that will depend 100% on boa keepers being able to get the shed samples to us we would need to develop such tests. We can only develop tests for things that you all send us representative sheds for, so reach out to your boa friends and tell them to send us sheds!!!

Hi Ben, is it as of yet possible to test for pathogenesis? if you have a shed from the mother and the daughter would that be possible?

Yes it is, and it is a test we will make available probably sometime this year! But if you would like to have it done now, send an email to [e-mail] and we can get it done for you!

Are the neonatal sheds (very first shed from the egg) viable for testing? I'm assuming that the albumin would need to be washed with a mild soap before the babies shed?

First sheds work great! Just make sure you rinse the babies when they first hatch, separate them before they start shedding, and make sure the cage is not wet or high humidity when they shed. It’s fine for there to be a water bowl in the cage, but if they are on wet paper towels when they shed out, the shed will go bad fairly quickly. But yeah, other than getting rinsed after hatching and avoiding wet/lots of moisture after the shed, then first sheds work great and MANY breeders send us first sheds 👍👍

Has there been any research into Rainbow albino? If it’s on your radar I plan on sending some sheds in soon. I have a het Rainbow girl that I can send a sample from.

Has there been a study to show orange ghost or green ghost and any other “ghost” genes to just be the same mutation of hypo? I have a feeling that they are all the same but maybe there are variations.

apparently green ghost is not compatible .i have no idea if it true or not .i have orange ghost and would like to know, so i can get some animal that are identify has hypo to put with my orange ghost .

Orange Ghost can be confirmed through the hypo test. I don't personally work with green ghost line so I wouldn't be able to answer regarding that.

Our current hypo test works on the following: ghosts, hypos, orange hypos, and yellow hypos. Others have suggested that there are hypo lines like green ghost and citrus ghost that are not compatible, but we have not received any sheds from these lines in order to test and see if they are indeed different lines. If you know someone with other lines, have them send some sheds in to us. We would love to learn more about other hypo/ghost lines!

If people with Pixel animals send in enough sheds, we will get it developed and available! But we would need lots more sheds, we probably only have a couple to this point, and we will need like 20-50 in order to be able to develop the test. Send pixel sheds to the P.O. I want to know if it true, that you confirmed that maple is the same has ultramel .I made a post on morpmarket and someone write that it was confirmed by shed test ....

I’m not aware of anyone sending in maple sheds to test and see if they are the same as ultramel. It could have happened, but if so then I was not aware, and was not able to make sure we have conclusive results.
