Most people are bashing them saying that this pent house is “overdone” and doesn’t seem like a “home” but let us remember that he is a designer. He’s lived a long life and has worked with many other designers, patterns, etc. I’m sure he has also traveled many places & seen more than any can possibly imagine. What you may consider overbearing can be a peace of heaven to him/them.

I used to work with him for an internship (very very very indirectly, but I'd see him around on occasion) and I had to go to this penthouse for a photoshoot. I will never forget how clean and perfect everything was. Yes, it didn't necessarily scream "comfortable," but there is no denying that it's beautiful, and it makes them happy so who cares? He was so nice and welcoming, despite it being a somewhat stressful day, and his wife was really nice as well. I didn't end up working in fashion (really not the world I belong in haha) but Tommy was a really really great introduction to that world.

Purchased by Hilfiger in 2008 for 25.5M. After several attempts over 11 years to sell from initially 50M to 80M and back to 50M they settled on 31.25M from a car dealership tycoon. I don't think they ever intended to hold onto it since they tried to flip it the year after they bought it. It is an immaculately decorated NYC apartment and still one of my favorites showcased by AD. Currently he is worth 450M and lives in a 9M Palm Beach home. He sold the Hilfiger brand years ago and is likely living off investments from the 450M (roughly 22M/year). I am guessing he decided that 450M should be spent less on real estate taxes and insurance and more on his family and vacations.

I personally find it to be total opposite of homey. The colors and decor remind me of a museum and also gives some Titanic vibes. I watch the video and all I could think of is, " OMG I would love to have that penthouse, so I could just sell it right away and buy something nice". However, the good thing is, we all have our own taste and what's ugly to some.. it's absolutely beautiful to others.
