There's an atmosphere to these dying Toys R Uses, it's really eerie and depressing. It's kind of bitter sweet to me, it feels like a childhood staple is being ripped out, but I will now go force myself and buy LEGO at normal prices. RIP Toys R Us, you will be begrudgingly missed.

I would always go to Toys R Us for any little gift that was a play thing. I would love going to the Lego section for all of the amazing sets they would have that I couldn't find in my small home town. It's sad to think and realize that my children will never be able to experience the joys of this wonderful store, and never know who Geoffrey the Giraffe was.

Here in the netherlands there gone to. Intertoys and toychamp(it has a monky as mascot) the last one feels a bid like the toys r us. Big store with a lot of lego(bought there today the joker mansion it was even the last box in the store) It's handy to order it on the internet, bud walking I to the store is just a that part that makes it fun.(I'm 28 now when I'm 80 the will be. Not a lot of fysical stores any more I think) It's a wierd idea when you realize you born in a ere with so much different and quick developments like the internet, and other thinks like communication devices.

It truly is the end of an area 😞 I only just turned 20, and my parents had to sell a lot of my old toys to give me some birthday money, and all of those were things I'd gotten from previous birthdays over the years. Going into the store to get the latest Bionicle, Transformers or Power Ranger toy. It always made me feel so happy, and now, so many children will never know that feeling of walking into a grand toy store like Toys R Us.

The first time I went to my local Toys R us with my parents was in 1988 when I was 5 years old. And I went to that same Toys R us a bunch of times but mostly in my 20s between 2007 when I was 24 and 2012 when I was 29. But in 2015 when I was 32 I tried getting a temporary Christmas job there but they wanted people that live more closer to the store. Its 2018 now and I'm 35 years old. But unfortunately Toys R us won't be around anymore for future generations to enjoy in the UK and Europe and USA but there's still Toys R us stores in Canada. I don't know what other countries have Toys R us stores still.

I remember being 2 years old and going into a Toys R Us store for the first time. We walked past a isle with these stuffed animals and I saw a crocodile one I really wanted. I carried it around all store but my mom made me put it back. I went to the car crying because I wanted it. Little did I know Mom bought it and I got the same one for my 3rd birthday. I still have it to this day, 16 years later. I'll always be a Toys R Us kid.

No matter how old we become TRU will always be our iconic empire of toys. Growing up my parents would take me there twice a month after I saved up my allowance and other money I made doing odd jobs. Invested in so many action figures and hot wheels from TRU. Sad to see it go and even sadder that my future kids will never get to experience the joy of an actual physical toy store.

I have such warm memories of my Grandma taking me there. I'm so sad it's gone now... all of my memories... my childhood... I am also so sad for the 30k+ people who lost their jobs, and for the company owners. That must be utterly devastating... I hope it comes back one day. I want kids in the next generation to experience the feeling of walking down those isles, and making memories like we who have shopped there have. I doubt even if it DID come back, young kids nowadays are so caught up on their tablets and phones, I doubt it would last long. I am so sad. #ImatoysRUskid

Toys R Us was a huge part of my childhood. Even if I couldn't buy anything, just being there and looking at all the toys was so much fun. I also remember that every year they would mail out a huge catalog of toys for the holiday season and I would always look through it and put tons of the items on my Christmas list. I haven't been in years yet I still feel like a huge piece of my childhood has been taken away.

When I was 5, I went to a Toys R Us and looked up and saw a gi joe hanging from a helicopter holding on to a barbie. I thought that was freaking awesome lol. I also remember playing the demo to super mario sunshine in there too. I miss those days :’(

Makes me so sad. I really feel they didn't try hard enough to adapt to the modern market. In Australia, it's the same. So much magic and so many memories. The day they came to the UK was the most amazing time for me as a kid - even though we never went. Got a tear in my eye reading those signs. I hope, through some miracle, they come back.

GJBricks unfortunatley they are going to shut down all canadian uk and australian stores sometime soon. It hasnt been offical but the stores in these 3 countries are suffering from the same thing which is market freedom. Regular stores for sell toys at half the price and have a huge advantage over stores that just sell toys because even if their toys side fails they have multiple other things. These huge toy stores fail because of this. Also they didnt adapt very well to the new market such as online shopping very well. I remember when i was a kid walking into toys r us and collecting Cars (disney movie) toys. Its sad to know that the American and main branch of toys r us has failed and is heading straight for us too

I went to two of ours here in Australia this weekend which are now closing - typically wanted the one thing everyone else did in the bikes and scooters department. But it genuinely affected me. Seeing this magical place being torn apart because it couldn't keep up with other's abilities to squeeze prices. Our kids will never have that experience of cruising through row after row of the latest toys. Or trying out the bikes and scooters and perhaps shooting some hoops. My parents never took me, but I made sure mine have been. They loved it and I hope they remember it. And I really, really hope we see it again!

I've never been in a Toys R Us. Never have I experienced how the stores were lined with toys in every row, and I guess I never will. I've never experienced it and never had the strong urge to go, but I'm still heartbroken. Just to know and see that the rows are empty, and not filled with toys. And they won't ever be again. Children won't ever run up and down the rows and rows filled with toys, with joy. I feel heartbroken. I wish I got to see you, at least once.

I’ve never lived particularly close to a LEGO Store so my closest Toys R Us was always like my Lego Store, a place I could go to get the biggest selection of Lego and Mega Bloks building sets all in one place. America has lost its quintessential toy store.

When I was little, my parents didn’t allow me and my brother to buy a toy at TRU because we couldn’t afford it but I remember one time for my 7th birthday my dad drove me to the nearest toys r us (which was 30 minuets away from my house and when I walked into the store it was like heaven for me and my dad told me to pick out any toy and not worry about the price so, I picked out a 2010 holiday barbie doll which was a big deal for me b/c all of the dolls I had were from the 99 cents store and to this day I still have that Barbie doll despite being 15yrs old. Very sad to see them go. Both my sister and I were Toys R Us kids and I've bought many presents for my kids from Toys R Us. I still remember going to our local one when I was younger with my parents and them buying me a Super Soaker 200. Also remember countless NES games (and before that, Ghostbusters for the Commodore 64), LEGO sets of course, and first run Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles action figures and accessories. I've been collecting Batman things for as long as I can remember, and TRU was my go-to; in fact, I have pictures of most of my collection, and the little orange TRU price sticker is visible on 95% of the older items. Oh well, I have one of the shopping baskets (paid $5 for it, now they're all over Ebay for 10 times that much) and a very worn out fob is on my keychain and be on it forever probably. I drive past the former store now? I have to do that tomorrow....

About 7 years ago, i was like 3 or 4 years old, my mom had taken me to toys r us after my doctors appointment because i had to get 6 shots and i was in a lot of pain. so when we got there we wanted to send a video to one of my family members who lived far away and that didnt have any toys r us stores. so she sent the video and here is what i said- dear toys r us i love you you have so many super cool toys and i hope that you never ever ever ever ever ever close! i love you!!!. and just today i was at target and there was a toys r us there that was closed (the same one that i made the video in) and i sat in the parking lot crying for 1 hour and randomly my friend showed up (uninvited) and was like sophia why the heck are you crying and i say grant toys r us is closed and he started crying too and we sat there for 2 hrs crying against the doors.

Even though i didn't go a lot i still enjoyed it, i was super excited to go each time for my birthday or other occasions, this hit me hard in the feelings losing a childhood memory

I remember on my birthday coming. Here and picking up Bionicle, and buying Lego after watching the Lego movie with my freind, last time I went to one it was closing down like this one. I will always be a toys R us kid

I think the combination of online shopping, and the fact that Toys R Us never really got competitive with their prices, was ultimately the bane of it's existence. Even so, I LOVED that place growing up...and so did my 7-year-old. I remember my brother and I buying our first Nintendo 64 from there, with our own money that we had gotten for Christmas. And before that, I got countless Sega Genesis, SNES, and PlayStation games from there as well. I'd even go in there sometimes as a kid, just to play whatever demo games they had set up in the video game section, and not even buy anything lol. Toys R Us may have partially been at fault for it's own demise, but there is no denying that it played a huge role in a lot of people's childhoods. I'll really miss it. :/

Lots of memories of this store... the one that stands out the most though is when I went to buy a Nintendo 64 game. I wanted to buy the original Mario Party game at the time but mistakingly bought Paper Mario. I started playing Paper Mario and absolutely loved it and it became the game of my childhood. Easily the best purchase I made there.

Farewell toys r us, I will miss the joy I had when I was little, running down the isles, holding the toy I had dreamed of having, I will miss the happiness from the doors sliding open to see all the Lego sets from creator, to Star Wars I will ALWAYS be a Toys r us kid 😔😔
