Unfortunately here in Australia resoling is only $50 cheaper than a new pair of shoes and the 6-8 week turnaround doesn’t help

Buy a couple of pairs. Then you can use one pair while the other is being resoled. You save $50 every time and you don't have to wear them in.

Crazy to me that resoling is an "unknown" thing in the rest of the world. Here in Brazil we resole our climbing shoes until they're almost dissolving 😂 But that's a given, considering a new climbing shoe costs more than minium wage.

In Germany it's actually fairly reasonably priced. I can usually get a resole around 40-50€. I also resole the shoes until they fall apart. I think my Otakis had 4 resoles 👍 Also I usually have a newer shoe for harder projects, when I need shoe performance. Most of the time the shoe is not the limiting factor though.

We filled in the online form for this event to get my daughter’s Tenaya Indalos done and the order was cancelled as we were told they were not suitable for resoling, but with no explanation as to why. I sent them to my usual resoler, the superb Llanberis Resoles, and Torquil did them with absolutely no problems. Couldn’t recommend his service more highly - he’s not the cheapest, but his work is top notch, so you get what you pay for.

I let resole my beginner Tarantulas because they are very comfortable ... the best thing is that they got better rubber than they originally had. I really like it.

idk if it's worth it to resole tarantulas, they're only $100 and even the cheapest resoles are ~$60 + shipping + you're out of shoes for at least a month

@@gr.4380depends. I have a shop near me that does them for £45 ($50) and i have to wait about 2 days for them to be repaired

@@gr.4380 I mean why not? Whats the point? If Tarantulas fit well they are worth it. You can use them for over the estimated use time with a better rubber they had before and so they perform better. I've bought a second pair of tarantulas ... used and for cheap. They got a wash in the washing machine just and now they are just as good as new.

Wasn't expecting to see this in my home city. In 20+ years of bouldering, ive never resoled a single shoe. Usually because by the time the rubber is gone, the shoe is a biological hazard XD

Graham Desroy used to be the guy in Leeds for resoling, he was kinda slow tho.

@@JoeyMills-y3v I'm usually at depot armley / pudsey, but might take a trip to city bloc and try this service.

@mindblown42069 if it's done well you keep the worn in feel but with new rubber. Worth a try imo, tho in the past they'd often put too rounded a shape & ruin them for edging. Is Steve dunning still running all the depot stuff? Not climbed in decades lol.

@@JoeyMills-y3v Yup still owned by the same three guys, but the brand is huge now. Centres up and down the country, increasingly big, theyve done tremendously.

After climbing I use a shoe dryer that also generates some ozone, works great: no more smelly shoes. Just don't put it in your living room (ozone is not so healthy).

Resoling saves good money. And you do not have to break the shoes again.

London Vibram Academy on Old Street are horrendous for resoling climbing shoes. They have ruined so many pairs of shoes and they have gained a reputation for their bodge jobs.
