The thing with Simonson is that whether he's doing Battlestar Galactica or he's doing Ragnarok, he's putting 100% into the work. Never slouches, always amazing. It's inspirational

Nice call-out about that Simonson Dr. Fate issue. Best interpretation of the character that I've seen...

Guys, thanks so much. Simonson's one of my faves, his work always makes me want to draw (which is tough right now since I'm taking a break from drawing). Love this channel

Thanks, guys! I’ve been following Walt’s stuff since Manhunter in 1973/74! DC finally put it in a hardcover collection! Also Walt really knows his way around licensed properties over the years! He didn’t design Apocalypse in X-Factor but sure as hell appropriated the character and made it better! Ragnarok is recommended reading for anyone who hasn’t read it yet! Made my days n much appreciated! I can look at Walt’s pencils/process all damn day!❤️😎🎯 Keep reading and making comix!

I'm always remember grabbing Walt towards the end of a convention in Bangor, ME, just for an autograph/Robocop head on a back board.

Whenever I hear someone say they can't draw a straight line, I always say, "well that's why rulers were invented" lol

That was a thing back when I first started going to conventions in the late 90's. Caliber would print nice sketchbook issues. I have a couple of ash cans of Vince Locke's sketch stuff. Kept with the Caliber printed one.

I can't draw a straight line, nor make the perfect circle and yet my artwork turns out pretty good to me. 😆

The "energy" of the thumb/sketch.. totally. So difficult to carry through and I also, uninitiated, would do the same as a kid, asking my parents to get me blowup xeroxes.

Thanks for the great video. Please do an episode about the Simonson, story "Temple Of The Spider". It's an amazing piece of work. At the time it came out, Walt, and many of his contemporaries, all said this story was the best thing he had drawn up to that point.....including Manhunter. It's amazing stuff!

I have the Thor/Beta Ray Bill Artisan Edition, a great book but it has an annoying misprint, still worth checking out since the soft cover artisan editions are about $30.
