Westjet is really upping their game. They should join Skyteam or Oneworld to increase their recognition. They aren’t a LCC anymore.

They are still a LCC
@Token_Nerd5 жыл бұрын
JayJay Planes&Things at this point, based on their cabin interior, prices, and business model they really aren’t. They’re now trying to compete with air canada at about the same prices for the same product.
@armslides21055 жыл бұрын
Not a LCC, in aviation they would considered a 'Value Carrier'. In terms of price they are on par with AC on most routes only plus or minus a few dollars. They're new business class product is priced similarly to most airlines crossing the Atlantic and the premium product on the 787, much like AC offering, is over priced. Nobody is going to pay $3k for premium economy when for a few hundred more they can be in business. Both AC and WS have pitched the price of their premium economy really badly, so much so that you can often find a business ticket cheaper than a premium economy ticket on the same flight. This conundrum originally seemed just to be the preserve of AC but now with the 787 WS have copied this aspect of their business. I like WS but I always feel they are trying to match AC but that's the wrong approach because AC are terrible to begin with.

Beautiful & very comfortable looking interior! Fantastic job, WestJet! If the price is competitively less than flying nonstop to Europe from Seattle, I’d consider connecting in Calgary to fly with WestJet’s 787’s! These beautiful birds were built just 7 miles from my house near Paine Field! You could add a flight from PAE - YYC... that would be a dream connection to Eastern Canada and Europe! 🇺🇸 😊 🇨🇦

I dont understand the obsession west jet has with europe. It is heavily serviced with many airlines that have more frequent flights to more destinations and to be honest I think basing them out of calgary is an exspensive mistake .if I want to fly from toronto or east coast to europe I certainly dont want to fly backwards unless theprice is very good.why doesnt westjet look to asia? For example the phillapines we have so many filapino permanent residents never mind all their temporary workers and no canadian airline flies there?-they have the right to as phillapine air flies daily to vancouver and is planning to increase their service to toronto.isnt there a lot of filapinos in alberta? And no I am not filapino but less focus on europe more on non chinese destinations in asia
@TheOwenMajor5 жыл бұрын
Of course, you don't get it, your from Toronto. What you Easterns don't realize is that if people from the west want to fly to Europe we have to go to either Toronto or Montreal. Being able to fly direct from Calgary is much simpler for us. Plus we get to avoid Toronto, an airport which I have never gotten through unscathed.
@MrJonsied5 жыл бұрын
Heavily serviced? Out of where YYZ? YYC has only LHR, LGW, AMS and FRA year round nonstop. YYC is underserved. Thats why WS chose it for their initial base. Cant see Calgary Manilla happening. I would guess the first Asian route will be YVR HKG or YYC HKG.
@namesregine90355 жыл бұрын
You think its that easy? Europe is like a 9 hour flight compared to a 20 hour flight. LOL and basing europe flights from calgary (although there are flights from toronto to europe already, just not with the 787s) is the smartest move seeing as how if they were based in toronto it would have to be yyc-yyz-lgw oppose to just yyc-lgw. Also asian destinations would have to be from yvr - any asian destinations.
