Yes! I wish the guide had also spoke more to us, but he had another tour. 3 people from the USA 🇺🇸 who looked they were having a blast! The ¥5000 ($35) is a steal for all the food they ate!!

Yokohama is severely underrated. We will visit when we're back in the fall.

I’ve been living in Yokohama for 6 months and absolutely love it. It’s not flooded with tourists and sometimes I’ll never see another westerner all day. I have to admit it’s hard not to follow the siren call of Tokyo. If we go out to drink we generally hop on the train to Shinjuku, Ginza or Ueno even though I’m walking distance to Nogoe. In the last two months I have left I’m making a deliberate attempt to explore more neighbourhoods here. I had no clue, zero, this market existed. Yokohama needs to do a better job marketing itself, it really is a hidden gem.

Thank you for showing us a little part of Yokohama! I went to college with a dear friend from Yokohama.

Years ago when I’d visit Atsugi for work, I’d always go to Tokyo if I had a weekend free. It never crossed my mind to go into Yokohama even though I now see it’s closer.

Small correction yoshinoya sarted in a fish market in nihonbashi, but after the kanto dai jishin (great kanto earthquake) they moved to the tsukiji shijo (tsukiji fish market) 🐟
@carlrauschenbach531511 ай бұрын
Thank You for the correction! KZbinrs need to fact-check more often and learn how to speak keigo when shop owners are giving out samples for free, it's the least you can do to show your respect and appreciation for the culture.

Mmm love shrimp, scallops etc BUT I am allergic to shellfish now. Had reactions so got tested. Confirmed +. How I miss those. Such a BIG market, I think I would get lost.

Hi John! Have you seen the case with that other KZbinr Fidias? He has been doing KZbin challenges of going from one side of a country to another and not paying. But he got in big trouble in Japan for hiding in train toilets, not paying for tickets and stealing food from hotels. Making his subscribers think this is ok. Well he got arrested in Japan at the time and now they are looking for him to repay damages. His video was also removed by KZbin.

Looks like they doubled the price of the tour now. It now cost 10,000 yen per person.
@onlyinjapanGO11 ай бұрын
Maybe, I think it was based on the volume of food 😂 ¥10,000 per person is still reasonable but on the higher end. If you have jet lag, it’s a good attraction because you have to be up before dawn!!

The ones that I know their English name; Tachiuo = Hairtail Awabi = Abalone Mirugai = Geoduck (not sea cucumber) Shirasu = Baby sardine Shirako = Cod milt Kama = Tuna collar
@onlyinjapanGO11 ай бұрын
Shirasu …. I wouldn’t “categorize” it as a sardine because the taste is anything. But that 😂 but there’s just not much else in English to call it. The Japanese names are so much easier to remember too hahaha
@sonny905411 ай бұрын
@@onlyinjapanGO So true. In fact Shirasu encompasses not only baby sardines but also eel and ayu. I come from Enoshima where Shirasu is our specialty, and 99% of our harvest was baby sardine Shirasu. We do have glass eels but those trade at a price unimaginable. Btw, raw Shirasu tends to be pretty bitter. Thus I always recommend boiled Shirasu to my friends. Just a quick tip from a local. Love your vids. Looking forward to many more awesome content. Cheers.
