Those two kids have been bowling 2 handed for a while! 😂 good vid thank you! I could not hook a ball one handed so I switched to two, one year later and my game has improved a ton!

Not gonna address the footwork? I think that’s the most difficult part to learn.

Great question and thank you for watching our videos. Footwork is very specific to the individual bowler. Footwork length and direction can be very different with two-handers. Pivot steps (“hop”) are also very unique to players. Some pivot steps are short in length, some longer, some with more angle, some with less. We have a video coming out in the future on just footwork with two-handers due to its uniqueness to the player.

I'm 66 years old and recently switched to 2 handed (Last Fall). It didn't take too long to feel comfortable and its much easier on my body. I'm averaging about 180 and still haven't mastered my corner spares. Costing me 10 -20 pins a game. Tips on spares?

One thing about being two handed is that there are many different variations of doing it and they’re all correct. If you watch the pros, it doesn’t take long to notice that all two handers have their own style. You got straight arms(Ogle) st top of the swing vs bent(Belmo), skip(Belmo)/hop(Packy)/step(Troup) during 4th step, thumb in/out, open(Keven Williams)/closed(Troup) hips, standing tall(Troup)/low(Simo). I always tell anyone giving it a try to keep an open mind and experiment will all the variations. It’s surprising what works for some people!

I’ve been making progress with ball speed by keeping the wrist and elbow on the inside of center of the ball during my setup. Also starting with open hips has helped. Before those changes I was kind of stuck in the land of “too slow ball speed, too many revs” and really limited to one kind of ball and one kind of shot. For better accuracy on spares, I concentrate on leaning the upper body forward more than usual at the release and have more body weight on the slide foot. Those are a few simple things that helped but never mentioned by coaches for me. I must have had some bigger problems to work on first from their perspective. Thanks

I went 2handed this year after dabbling with it over the last decade and not only does it feel WAY better, it also allows me to be WAY more athletic and allows me to be super fast with my feet, which has ALWAYS been an issue with me.

Thank you for the video. I'm coming back to bowling after a long break and forgot a lot of my fundamentals. I used to be a traditional 1 hander, for some reason now i cant seem to use my thumb. I switched to two fingers and it feels much more natural, i think i will practice a two handed approach and see how it feels now.

I switched from 1 handed to 2 handed around Xmas time in 2023….have it down but had to redrill my bowling balls because of the axis rotation difference and the PAP change…..once drilled correctly for me had a much better improvement in my ball consistency….something that I have seen in most videos on KZbin that hasn’t been mentioned…..just food for thought

Nice video, BUT one item of note, the hop step to deliver the ball onto the lane was really not discussed, this is a major difference from one handed to two handed when I switched, never took a hop step with one hand, would of been laughed out of my league if I did.

There are pros and cons for both one-handed and two-handed style so if one feels to switch to see what works better, more power to them rather I agree to disagree with the style. The way I see it, it is your money and your career.

Due to an arm injury I suffered a decade ago, I can no longer bowl one handed. So, I thought about going the two handed route. Tried it out a few days ago, but there wasn't much I could do with a house ball. 🙂 But, after 3 games, my arm felt fine so I think I am going to convert. Is it recommended to use a ball drilled with only the finger holes?

My current average is 189 and I'm slowly getting better. I can't say if it's easier for someone with back issues. All I can say is to give it a try and see how it feels for you.

Watch Walter Ray, when he uses 2-hands. You can tell he's worked on it. Not sure how much he uses it, but it shows that it was worth adding to his already packed toolbox of bowling knowledge. Even at 60+ years old, it's effective.

Why not make all artists paint the same picture using the same colors & brushes? How many variations of bowling one handed are there…lots. @robertritter8444 at high levels it's incredibly technical. It requires a deep understanding of both the physics of the game as well as the chemistry relationship between different ball materials, lane types, and oil patterns. On the surface, yes you throw the ball at the pins, but to consistently do it well requires A LOT of knowledge on top of the physical performance.
