I have recently returned to the game after many years away. I am having difficulty keeping my elbow in close and as a result I often turn the ball early and tend to pill the ball. How can I address this?
@kingwillie2063 жыл бұрын
If you are right handed you will need to lean slightly to the right in order to create a straight line for your swing and get your elbow close. Next, you want to line that pocket between your forearm and bicep up with your target. If you are left handed the same applies to the opposite side.
@pdef19493 жыл бұрын
@@kingwillie206 Thanks Willie, I tend to do that now. It's taken a lot of work and practice! There are several more things I have done since I first posted my comment. I am now holding the ball higher (ball in front of my right shoulder) and then letting my elbow drop directly below my shoulder during the stance. That alone greatly helps a pendulum arm swing; but then I also "chase the ball with my hand" (specifically the thumb) on the follow through. Both of these are classic methods to achieve a straight swing. Also, paying attention to wrist position (straightness) on the backswing and keeping the wrist very straight tends to keep my hand more behind the ball throughout the swing, and thus delaying the turn until the point of release.

You say Troy created more energy and ball speed, give us the numbers! Just saying it doesn't make it true.

This is something I've been intrigued to try. I love starting in the one-step before full approach. NOT something I'll try during league (now that we're back), only in practice until I get it figured out. Thanks!

I am a duckpin bowler and used to be a pro back in the '80s and '90s. The techniques are the same and I'm using your videos to try to get back towards I was back then. The video about squaring the body to a target has made me focus more on throwing to that target more consistently. Your videos have been a great help and I've subscribed so that I can keep coming back for "refresher" courses. I will try this video's "class" to also help me. I'm more like Earl Anthony in regards to not doing much with the "balance" arm. It stays more to my side. Now if I can only get to be more consistent. Like another person who commented, I tend to pull the ball left a lot. Thanks for posting these.
@maceewoods68903 жыл бұрын
My coach has been having me do the arm thing and it helps a lot because I pull the ball a lot and it helps me roll my Axiom because it hooks so much.

I have tried a bit of upper body rotation but every now and then i would throw the ball out to the right by 5 plus boards. I guess it was because I wasn’t square to the line at release or released early. How can i fix this problem

Just make sure the non bowling is transitioning (closing) behind you quietly. This will close the upper body. Thanks for watching
