@@1104ray of course! It’s an absolutely awful thing to happen. Other dude was just saying that she would just have an easier time than anyone impoverished because… money. He just said it pretty aggressively though… but yeah, It’s incredibly challenging sometimes for people (especially those who have been historically/generationally disenfranchised) with “less than” to see people with “more than” complaining about anything. But I think everyone can agree that it’s tragic. Just not as tragic as it might be for someone already struggling.

Mother and daughter in my neighborhood were on a hammock between two trees. Tree snapped, fell on the, mother broke her pelvis, daughter died. Be very, very careful where you place a hammock.

An actual hammock stand is the only way I will use one. I’ve had my hammock stand for years, never had an issue. And even if it falls, the stand is not tall enough to crush an adult.

I know of one other girl who was quadriplegic because of the porch pillar her hammock was attached to collapsed on her, followed by part of the porch roof. She felt lucky to be alive, her doctors said two inches forward and her skull would’ve been crushed and she would not be here. Please heed the warnings and try to prevent these types of injuries.

I’ve lived through a stroke after I woke up I couldn’t move my body. So I figured out how to use my phone with my nose. I now can use my hands and fingers. My left arm still can’t feel but I can move it so much more since that day. I’ve been bedridden for 15 years in that time I’ve thought of my illness I stop myself ave think that there’s always going through something more then myself It really helps me be more grateful to have my own situation then to live with someone else situation. I think many handicap individuals become depressed when they think they can’t find or experience a relationship as they once could. My uncle was paralyzed from the knees down and his wife left him after a few years, he soon became depressed and passed away.

The fact that she was so accepting of her paralysis is a testament to how much love and support she is getting from people around her. From my personal experience, I have faced life changing trauma and I was shocked that my core support system cannot move past denial and instead chose to convince themselves that I am “overreacting”. Toxic AF…makes things 100X worse…

I wish this was explained better from the beginning. I didn't understand until later what a chimney falling had to do with sitting on a hammock. Later, I finally got it that the hammock was attached to the chimney. Never heard of attaching a hammock to a chimney. I've always thought of a hammock stretched out between two trees. I grew up with hammocks everywhere and I don’t recall any incident that involved injuries this serious. But the hammocks were attached to strong walls, trees, or pillars, not to chimneys or weak trees or walls made of gypsum. This accident it’s sad and unfortunate but was 100% preventable like understanding weight and a solid foundations. I’m glad she survived

Because the chimney didn’t just fall by itself. The hammock was tied to it. It was the hammock that made the chimney collapse.

Years ago I heard about a woman who fell out of a hammock and became a quadriplegic. It doesn’t take much distance to the ground to sustain a severe injury. My mother fell down three brick and sandstone steps and died from a head injury. Life is more fragile than we realize.
