Rex Heuermann was arrested in a raid on his 11th floor Manhattan office by cops investigating the notorious “Gilgo Beach murders” on Long Island. The bodies of four sex workers, known as the Gilgo Four, were found wrapped in burlap on a desolate stretch of beach on Long Island in 2010. Seven more victims were found the following year. Heuremann was reportedly a person of interest in the case for years. Inside Edition's Les Trent has more.

This case has been going on for years decades but police couldn't figure it out. These bodies were all clustered along the same road so can't be coincidence. But there were no breaks in the case or police didn't try until a task force was setup to crack down on this.

They did a movie, it's called Lost Girls. It's a perspective of Shannon Gilbert's family but it has some of the other family members of the victims as well. If you haven't followed it the Chief of police Burke was arrested by the FBI for all kinds of nasty things and wouldn't let them come in to help. They probably would've caught this guy years ago if it hadn't been for the corruption of that police force.

@deemarlin It's just a sneaking suspicion. When he was arrested years ago, it was suggested that there be an investigation into his involvement in this case. I hope the online web sleuths that have been pointing fingers at a police officer, feel pretty stupid right now.

What about the house where that woman made the 911 call from? The cops knew where it was. What I don't understand is why they didn't go after the person who lived there. Does this guy have any connections to that house at all? If it's really only him who did all the murders, why was one of the victims killed in someone else's house that had nothing to do with him? (if it actually didn't.) And did they not investigate the people who did live in that house? I mean, they know that's where the murder happened. They traced the 911 call there. I think it might've even been on a landline, so it was really easy to trace?

They don't think Shannan was murdered. It was declared an accidental drowning.

@@kenna163 Yeah, but what about the house where she made the call from? They know which house it is. Why was she calling 911 from there, saying someone was attacking her, if she drowned in the ocean?

@Melissa0774 Bc psychosis. And the guy she was with and her boyfriend were both cleared. Anyway he was charged only for the three found in burlap sacks, the others MOs differ drastically.

@@kenna163 So she was having a psychotic episode at the house and thought she was being attacked there, called 911, and then ran off to the beach and drowned in the ocean before the cops got to the house? And they really believe that's what happened?
