I think that detective automatically knew after seeing the poor heartbreak that baby witnessed and endured that he needed to show him that a father is supposed to love and protect their kids. Its horrible to think that this boy’s mother and sister were murdered right in front of him. And the boy didnt know what was going on and after his mom, he was stabbed 20 times and then set on fire. It is appalling that the legal system allowed that to happen! The monster should never have been allowed to torture his child further in court after what he (the child) had been through. He has so much strength and courage to stand up to his bully of a father after such a terrible life and traumatic experience. I hope though, that it helped him heal from the terrified child to the more confident young man he seems to be now. I hope he is able to conquer the horror he has experienced in his formative years with the help of his loving adopted family. He has a hard row to hoe ahead of him.

They went to the prison my mom was in at the time and asked her permission to adopt me. 🎉Adopted me at a year and i’m now 21. I don’t know where i’d be without them. It was via video and he is allowed to represent himself. I don’t think it’s ok but that’s the law.

I think it's better for the court but not for the kid, the more he tries to defend himself from the jury the more they will see how guilty he is, the faster conviction he will get. But as for the kid he will become more traumatized

Honestly one of the saddest court cases I’ve heard of. Rip to the mother and daughter that lost their life. Bless the detective and his family for taking him in with open arms.

Gosh, that's horrific. That poor boy. What a monster that "man" was to cross-examine that boy. I hope he will continue to thrive with his family.

I don’t care if this is cliche, but here it goes : not all superheroes wear capes. That Cop is a Hero.
