@@brentpaul4878 It doesn't say he was fired. It's says because of the gunshot wound he lost his job. Maybe he can't do construction because of damage to his leg....so he loses what he has been doing. I don't think the construction company would "fire" him due to the potential backlash. Who knows....the story isn't clear and I don't think it is fair to the employer to make them out to be the bad guys. The real bad guy is the shooter.

...well with a shot leg he wouldn't be able to work. If he does construction by the time he heals the construction job would (I assume) have ended. Why pay someone who isnt working? Catch sense. If he lost his job I assume he might just be a free lance worker/private contractor and possibly not an employee of a construction company...like a hired hand employed specifically for that job for a set period of tine. When he heals he'll be able to work again.

@Jaeger19Ultima He didn't get screwed by the system, he got shot in the thigh...so he's not able to work. He can't hardly walk, so even light duty in construction would be way too much for him. There was a fundraiser for him that raised $288,000. People recognized him for his heroism. He's also eligible for disability until he can walk and work again. Only telling you this so you don't lose hope.

The part that gets me is that moments after he gets his last kid on the ground u can see a bullet connect in the spot where that boy was sitting. My friends parents just died recently unexpectedly and within 1 day his GoFundMe to help raise his little sisters was at 30k. The power of social media alone is truly amazing. And his situation isn't on the news.

This is so beautiful to see how much people love and care for their kids, he didn’t even think about himself once. The fact that he lost his job was very stupid to me, he was doing what any parent or person should do. I hope that they have better things in store :) I’m glad they’re all safe and sound.
