I have been an archer for over 50 years and a bowhunter for over 40. I learned a lot from this video, thank you

What I do is keep my index finger pressed against the back of the trigger of the release "also great for safety reasons", so when I am at full draw all I have to do is loop my index finger over the trigger and slightly flick it with the tip of my index finger, and the only time I do this is when I am ready to fire of the shot. It's pretty much the same method you would use with a firearm, never have your finger on the trigger until you are ready to fire off a round. Been using this method for thirty years with no issues.

Update; last night range session was outstanding. Your instructions' were spot on. I torn up the bullseye. That minor adjustment made a huge difference. My hand and release position was corrected with your help. Shooting became allot easier and more fun. In about 2 weeks I will be sketching out to 40 yards thanks to your video.

This helped a ton! At 20 yards I didn't have a problem but at 30+ yards I was having problems with arrow wobble. I shortened my release and they're all flying strain and much more accurate! Thank you!!

Great explanation and visuals. I've been pulling left a bunch lately after switching from a handheld release and knew it was something with my trigger hand. This explanation of getting a rough measurement is going to help a ton.

just started using a wrist release and I have been treating it as a trigger on a rifle with obvious indifferent results....this has made perfect sense, and has been perfectly explained!. I'm gripping the release with my fingers and using the tip of my index finger 🙈 (I know.....I'm a worm....)....thank you for improving my aim.....and subbed!

I always thought my releases were too short and always had a hard time finding one. This video was very helpful. Learned a lot I didn't know about shooting with a relase, and I have been shooting competition, hunting, and recreation for 40 years. Now to the proshop and have my bow set up a new way.

I just got my arrows and release strap today, waiting for my bow and a few other goodies to show up. Been watching a lot of videos and I can't wait to apply what I've learned so far. I'm excited to get into archery, I've always wanted to, but never did. Well, time to change that.

I use a Spot Hogg Keeton with the second knuckle of my birdie finger around the trigger. It automatically solves my tendency to punch the trigger (too much PS4 has ruined the use of my index finger for archery).
@christianpaul33034 жыл бұрын
I struggled with gripping my release - then an instructor taped all my non-trigger fingers to my palm. Not kidding. After a couple dozen shots my brain started to reset and I was shooting tight groups and not drifting laterally. Try it!

Have you ever tried using your middle finger as your trigger finger? I find it much harder to punch the trigger if you use your middle finger, you kind of have the feeling of closing you hand verses pull a trigger finger. Check it out it’s awkwardly comfortable.
@MusicMinisterJP73 жыл бұрын
Nice demo,, I can see your trigger isn't the hair- trigger. I actually got punched on my pulling back bcuz of the hair-trigger. But I was interested in release length. I guess you didn't touch on that adjustment. But it gave me food for thought. Thx.

@jacobgion96133 жыл бұрын
How are you anchoring with the B3 Hawk? Looks like you’re using the wedge of your thumb/index on the corner of your jaw? I normally place my index knuckle in the “hole” at the base of the ear/jawbone. I’m finding this is too far back and my string no longer aligns with my nose and corner of my mouth. I have shorter fingers and I’m forced to adjust the Hawk all the way in to get my finger hooked over the trigger properly... any advice?

Thing that's sucks is I cant return a release after buying. I bought a true fire that I really dislike. If I could have returned it I would have. Love my old one, new different model sucked. Only reason for replacing old one is springs are worn out.

On your B3 release, do you have the stock shank/ shaft or the short? I have the same TF release you also demoed and it’s way too long. Your B3 looks like what im looking for. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. Question: how long have you shoot the Scott Ghost release? And more importantly, have you ever had misfires with it? I had 3 last night and not sure what I can do to resolve it shy of getting a new release. I've been using this release for almost a year and have had a few go off prematurely but could never be certain I didn't bump it with my finger until last night. It was clearly released without any involvement from my finger. (Mid draw) Thanks!
@maxpage5633 Жыл бұрын
Man you make my day! I got the scott ghost release and it's been a couple of time i had shot who went prematurely, and i always put the fault on me. I really think there is a problem with this one. I will change for a other model!

I was wondering if you could talk about aiming. I've been shooting since last November and learned a lot from your videos too however, I just noticed that I'm only aiming with one eye open. Is there an explanation of why it is important to keep both eyes open? Or does it even matter? (I'm left-handed archer but right-handed otherwise)
@stevenstoneman81113 ай бұрын
It should be as long as you want it and still be accurate. Archery is 99% fitment to the archer. Comfort and repeatability is the most important.

Hey man I’m new to archery and I just bought a Mathews vertix and I already have peep rotation I’ve tried a twist moving d loop to an angle and it’s just always off a little one way or another so after watching your video about strings do you guys have any Gas ghost strings in stock? I went on site and it says I can’t get any til July can I buy some from you guys there is no pro shops within 4 hours of where I live and they are tiny that you have to order everything thru.
