I have a mantra I say every time I shoot.”keep aiming until the arrow hits” and “aim small,miss small”. They both have helped immensely. I’m a hunter first so a command shot is what works for me. I have several back tension releases and I’ve spent many hours trying to use them for indoors. I’m just not consistent with them.

Looking at a bow this year. Prices for used are very high, in some cases I’ve seen them higher than new for models that are still in production due to including some accessories that may or may not be any good or useful. My thoughts were string/cable wear, draw length, storage conductions and cost to get it set up for me. Never thought about manufacturer support but that could be a pretty big one too the older the bow.
@jeffmoodie614411 күн бұрын
I’m looking at buying a bow to start hunting this year. After researching midline and higher end bows I sense a lot of diminishing returns as the prices go higher so I am planning to stick with a decent midline (well under $1,000) bow. I have a minimum list of things to look for and attachments and, being technically adept, I have also figured out what gear I will need to properly tune and maintain the bow, create my own arrows and not have to rely on a shop. There aren’t any near me anyway. More than half the fun is tweaking and practising to get the most out of what you have anyway. I have gotten into many hobbies with midline gear to still either blow away or at least “keep up” with guys on high end gear due mainly to my attention to detail and willingness to do my own work.

That is because 90% of the arrow coming out straight is you the shooter. 10% is the bow. Most people unfortunately like gun shooting will move a sight for their flinch instead of better form. Same for archery moving cams out of spec to shoot straight instead of just learning to shoot better. It is in spec from your bow shop. Do move it to fit you. You move to fit the bow. Grip is the big one.
@InsideOutPrecision16 күн бұрын
@@robertlocke7711 yes of course, but many times the bow will still shoot tail right or tail left through paper even with a perfect grip. If you’re getting the same test every time and have to induce torque to get the arrow to come out straight, then you need to adjust the cams. There is no factory preset that bows leave the manufacturer with. They get them close to what should be decent and send them out the door. If you weren’t supposed to use the cables and cams to tune they wouldn’t make them as an option to use.
@robertlocke771116 күн бұрын

@InsideOutPrecision the alignment of the string and rest. Is in line. And the arrow tilts left right up or down. You are all that is left. Whether you move the back aka the string cam or the front aka the rest. They should be in line. After that it's all you.

@@Canadaman4403 honestly you won’t see any difference in tuning between a .003 and .001 tolerance arrow. The position of the spine is far more critical
@Canadaman4403Ай бұрын
My application is primarily bowhunting out to 60 yards so you do not shoot match grade arrows? And do not .001 match grade arrows eliminate the spine being stronger on one side? I’m purchasing a new bow and going to new arrows and ….I’ve been labouring over should I buy the new 5.0 match grade or the regular 5.0 is it worth a price difference in your opinion? No Tac shooting for me even our local 3-D shoots are up to 60 yards max
@InsideOutPrecisionАй бұрын
@ match grade is just what Easton calls their .001 straightness tolerance. There is still a spine in match grade arrows just like any other. Easton claims their build process eliminated the stiff side of the arrow but if you put one on a spine tester you can clearly tell where the stiff side is. At 60 yds, you wont see any difference in the match grade arrows vs. the standard grade.

I came full circle. I move my thumb, slowly increasing pressure until it breaks. That’s how I shoot rifles, pistols and shotguns. For shooting fast, practice preloading and presetting the trigger press fast. Command/concious trigger operation becomes issue when you get problems and instead of tuning your finger, start making the trigger lighter.
