Robyn was on point when she said Eddie Murphy (the only man Whit claimed publicly b4 Bobby) did a number on Whit's self esteem. He specifically said in an interview (following her passing) they NEVER dated, just went for dinner a few times, were NEVER an item, were just 'friendly'. She was into him but he was not into her but kept her on an emotional leash....smh

@NIVEA whit turned up at his house and he didn't let her in, she prepared a romantic dinner and he didn't show up, he showed up at her birthday party for twenty minutes and left, he never claimed her in public..... Despite all these obvious signs he wasn't that into her she continued to take him back..... He was doing what most twenty somethings do...

Who remembers how Eddie Murphy treated Scary Spice of the Spice Girls, who got pregnant and had his daughter. He said on NATIONAL TELEVISION while she was pregnant, she needs to do a paternity test, and he barely knew her basically. Of course, it turned out the child was is -- and they were dating for a period time. He is a jerk, so his treatment of Whitney is no surprise.

One of the good things about Whitney is her generosity. She had her dancers flying first/business class, all had their own rooms in top hotels and were paid extremely well. While some in her camp appreciated her generosity most took advantage of it. Sigh...

I agree Bobby Brown can be a likeable, outgoing and funny person. In Being Bobby Brown he was friendly and goofy (no different from Will Smith). The situation he found himself in brought out the worst in him n' he lacked the maturity to handle it.

@@lostindallas62 one of the funniest stories in Kevin's book was when robyn got into an argument with Regina yelling and cussing while Whit sat quietly with a smirk on her face. When Robyn stood up to whoop Regina some folks were trying to restrain robyn, then Whitney intervened and yelled 'GET YOUR HANDS OFF ROBYN!!... I was like hold up.. Wait a minute.. Shouldn't she be telling robyn to calm down !lol... They had each others backs..

I think it turned to addiction too. My mother said it was seen as "cool" to do drugs in the 60s 70s and 80s. Then crack and Ronald Reagan hit in the mid 80s and it became serious.

East Orange back in the day was considered a middle class neighborhood not the hood. According to Michael and Gary they were like the huxables when they moved there with a pool and everything. Cissy took offence to folks saying Whit was from the hood.

The alleged abuse is always a tricky and sensitive subject. One has to question why Whit would confide in her personal assistant but not her best friend or husband who she told everything. We'll never know..

She could've felt Robyn would be judging her for staying... It's possible that she didn't want to tell Robyn out of embarrassment. A lot of abused victims keep family and friends in the dark about it. Battered woman syndrome is a real thing. Also Robyn probably knew a lot more about the abuse than she's letting on... she's may be trying to avoid a lawsuit. Cause Bobby and his wife love to sue lol that's why I figured she never said she directly saw or was a witness to the physical abuse.

@@aves6963 sorry, I shoulda been clear. The abuse i am referring to is the alleged sexual abuse. The physical abuse was not a secret. Knowing how protective robyn was of Whitney l don't think she woulda sat back and watched bobby battering Whitney. Robyn mentioned in an interview that bobby saved his worst behavior until after she had left. Whitney also alluded to that too when she said bobby really started acting up after her father passed. Regarding the sexual abuse whit woulda told robyn or Bobby . Plus Whitney was friendly with dee dee the alleged abuser even taking robyn to her house to hang out. Thanking her in acceptance speeches, inviting her to her birthday party and dancing with her etc.. I dunno.

I wondered about the beard situation, and I always wondered why didn't Whitney have anymore children? I know it was said she had miscarriages, but she was still young she could've had children well into her late 40s or older I know women that have done it. I have a thoery. 1. She didn't want to leave the drugs alone to have more babies. 2. The miscarriages aren't true she just didn't want anymore kids. 3. Bobbi kristina was only born to quiet the "gay" rumors so she could be like see look I had a child with a man so I can't be gay. 🤔 it was just strange to me that she didn't keep/want to try. So the whole beard thing is sketchy to me as well.

I think her pregnancy with BK went well because she wasn't dependent on drugs at the time. I also don't think she married Bobby as a beard because her marriage to him brought more harm than the gay rumours ever did. if she was worried about her image and career she wouldn't have entertained his behaviour because he was a bad image for her.

We all know Cissy was more worried about Robyn than Bobby. Cissy knew Bobby wasn't good either but she was all about how her daughter looked. She would rather her be with a "bad boy" than a woman. And we all know how Clive felt about it and he has the nerve to be in the closet himself. Its all about image even if the other choice is no better.

The brother who has both the same parents as her.

After she moved out it appears they were not that close cos most of her narration is her speculating and questioning her mothering skills. There were some interesting bits from when they were close but compared to robyn's book finished the book knowing v little about Whitney.
