Well done. Thanks for bringing to our attention! FYI - I use the Ricoh Theta Z1 and Matterport generated a floor plan for $19.95.

One thing to keep in mind also is where you are measuring from. The walls may not be exactly plumb and square. You are also measuring from different points for each instrument.

All measurement's are going to be approximated for this type of work, as long as they are not deliberately mis-leading. Atmospheric anomolies come into play when using scanning techniques, even tape measures increase / reduce in size due to thermal transfer. It might be worth employing at least two sets of measurements when making claims to floor plans. I've been on site with buiders and no two tape measures are the same. The only people who get it spot on are carpenters especially when fitting baseboards / skirting and door trims etc. Although they do ocassionally get it wrong, just ask any painter and decorator who's had to come behind them and Caulk up their work. Just starting out with the virtual tours, and have been trolling the internet for knowledge and info on these things, so many thanks for your videos. There's no substitue for experience and I appreciate your sharing it.

Mike, I was wondering, are you able to remove the Ricoh Theta Z1 camera from your iGuide setup and use it for Matterport as well? I'm wondering if I can buy just 1 camera to use for both systems. Also, have you had any updated experience using HDR on the Ricoh for iGuide?
@wegottheshot Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the deep explanation., One question, have you ever had need to use lights, hidden away, of course, but, for instance, if you were in the room that you were discussing in, would you hide a light around the corner to illuminate? Great job. subbed.

Are you able to use the 2d photos that iguide generates or do you have to do regular photos with a dslr after the scanning is complete? I'm hoping to find a system that can give me fairly nice 2d photos without having to hire a stills photographer while I'm doing the scanning.
@InsideRealEstatePhotography Жыл бұрын
I definitely do stills separately as the quality is no where near as good as you can get with a proper stills camera and good editing.

First, I always watch your videos to gain expert knowledge. I have a few questions: The height it has been suggested to use 58" at the cameras lens for height - your thoughts Do you shoot in HDR or single image .. my question in relation to window pulls. Do you find the colors are off especially when viewing in stitch. To me the viewer looks pretty bad. Your thoughts would be apprecited.
@InsideRealEstatePhotography Жыл бұрын
I think the height sometimes depends on the environment. If ceilings are low then you don’t want it to be too high up. I’m not super exact with the height m. HDR is my recommendation. I do agree it’s hard to judge the look of things through stitch. That said, with multiple light sources colors are bound to look off sometimes.

Nice video! I just want to note that in the laser measuring device, at 7:03 , you used the wrong mode (check the icon at the top left of the screen), measuring from the top, not from the bottom where the wall is located. You need to add the height of your device (maybe 5 inches?) to the measurements that you took. That should reduce the difference to the iGuide measurements.

Yeah thanks! That was my mistake. I assumed it took that into account

I just can't wrap my head around the pricing model. Most houses I shoot are 2,500' - 4,000'. iGuide would be exorbitantly expensive. Even with the subscription model, Matterport is far, far, far cheaper. I use the Theta and my scans are rapid. I did a 10,000' house in 45 minutes this week. And 1-click submit makes it super simple.
@seancarrie3662 Жыл бұрын
I have iGuide and wish I went with Matterport. iGuide boasts they aren't a subscription platform, but even with Matterport's Pro plan at $130USD or whatever it is, is substantially cheaper than the bill I got for $350 for a condominium, two ranchers, and a single family house. Matterport, you can print a floor plan for $20. If you plan on shooting more than 3 houses a month then obviously go for Matterport. iGuide only makes sense if you are a real estate brokerage or an agent, and want to buy the camera yourself. Honestly, I cannot simply see how a photographer could make a living doing iGuide's. Everyone complains about the subscriptions from Matterport...do the math. Wow.
@lighthousejakarta1257 Жыл бұрын
Why many people say iguide subs more cheaper than matterport, when we talk about big project like 9000ft i think matterport will cost lower. coreect me if i’m weong
