I noticed that you mentioned that there was French on the back description. That's because this website serves both Canada and US. And we here in Canada are required to have both languages on packaging. I hope that helps.

I’ve often wondered why there’s a French description whilst the price is printed in Canadian dollars as well as U.S dollars, could’ve made that connection if I’d have thought instead of just wondered 🤦🏻‍♀️

As usual, this collection is a rollercoaster of emotion. Quite a few lovely options but as always, several “what are they thinking”.

OMGosh: Vintage! Vogue V1966 was the first pattern that I bought on my own. I used camel polyester. I looked great in it because my next door neighbor said so. LoL Thank you, Lindsey. I always enjoy your reviews. ~ L

Moire is pronouced like soiree. It is a mid-weight woven that has tone on tone wavy patterns in it.

Maybe consider Vogue 1970 for the patchwork yellow material from your NY fabric hall!

Just a friendly FYI... faille is pronounced "file" with a long "i" sound. I found this description-- somewhat shiny closely woven silk, rayon, or cotton fabric characterized by slight ribs in the weft. Faille was often a suggested fabric on dress patterns up until about the 1980s; then it wasn't mentioned much anymore. It's a nice fabric.

OK, I am usually a big "Vogue" fan, but this collection is "weird"! LOL!! I do love Marcy's jacket:1070,. Coat 1971, PANTS 1974 (LOVE these), Dress 1967, and 1965-which I think I still have in my pattern stash from the 70's! :+) Thanks!

Thanks! Love your ❤ commentary! I shop Marcy Tilton for fabric, she has an end cuts section, which can be cut pieces and may be damaged, also a sale section. She also does % of sale too. I’ve gotten a lot of great fabric for under $5.

I know it makes no sense, but "2-way stretch" means only horizontal stretch and "4-way stretch" means both horizontal and vertical. I've never seen fabric that only stretches to the right (not left), or down but not up, so "1-way" and "2-way" would make more sense, but I guess it's not up to us. Love your videos!

An important feature of the winter coat, second pattern reviewed, is that the skirt is full enough it should stay closed when the wearer sits. I think the coat is an excellent, classic pattern. About the vintage evening gown, I suspect some will be buying it for the skirt portion, which is outstandingly beautiful, and attaching it to a different bodice.

I'm sure it's been said before but I don't understand why they don't make samples of the vintage patterns. Seeing these designs on an illustrated, exaggerated ideal body of that time isn't helping me imagine it on a real body. 💗
@missdemeanor3524
@missdemeanor3524 Жыл бұрын
It's safe to assume that these vintage pieces would be flattering af on a modern body. In previous eras, they wanted to complement the female body and play up all its' attributes.

@@missdemeanor3524 Still would be nice to analyze the fit, drape and overall structure of a vintage pattern on a real model.

The double-breasted flared coat with a vintage flavor... looks like a reissue of a coat pattern from several years ago. I guess they just made new illustrations of the pattern? I do like it. Edited to add: Yep, it's Vogue 8346 from 2007. Line drawings identical.

I recall almost identical coats for women in the late 1960s (maxi flare coats over micro shorts and minis) and 1970s. Of course, 1970s were a tribute to the 1940s. The 1890's. Cycles...

@@Lighthouse1852Yes, I remember those coats in the 60s-70s. So true about cycles.

V front, v back will just fall off the shoulders… unless it’s boned and corset lining structure to hold the shoulders up. It looks softer than that. Maybe they glued it to the model shoulders for the photo.

I bought the 70’s jacket, trouser retro thing a couple weeks or so back. It’s one of the few patterns I’ve ever bought. I’m all about that outfit.

Lately I have not been too impressed with the new patterns from Vogue. Some are OK, others are a little out there and like you said about the pussy bow blouse I’ve seen these styles before. I get it that fashion styles come back again but I feel it’s not fresh enough. For instance the bell pants I remember my older sister had a pair of store bought ones in the 90s that I thought were funkier. Have the fashion designers from previous collections stop licensing their designs for Vogue Patterns little by little?

Ok, so what's up with the retro patterns never (hardly ever) having real life samples???? 😩 I want to see ALL these made up to see how they are envisioning it to look (modern and/or vintage vibe). I guess they want us to have the true "vintage" experience of not having a real sample to go by?
@mmills5951
@mmills5951 Жыл бұрын
The reason they’re aren’t samples is because these are not true vintage patterns. These are vintage designs remade today. The original patterns were not saved.
@rhonddalesley
@rhonddalesley Жыл бұрын
Yes they’re not the original patterns but there’s nothing stopping them making samples from the rereleases. They’re losing money by not doing it because a lot of people aren’t going to buy a pattern for a garment they can’t see themselves in and those who do are highly disappointed when they look nothing like the hourglass shape depicted on the envelope when they put the finished garment on and look in the mirror
@crafteed

I heard somewhere that Vogue researched and released actual vintage patterns and that it was Simplicity/Mccalls/Butterick that released modern reproductions.
@crafteed
@crafteed Жыл бұрын
Nothing stopping them from using the patterns they are creating and showing us some sample, unless they look like trash. They have some talented people working there and should be able to give a pattern a fighting chance. On that gown, i'm envisioning stuff I see from the movies.

Of course I only like the vintage patterns. 😂 those modern bell buttons are absolutely hideous… therefore I need them 😂

Vogue has always done the overlay top over the bodice. I had one from 1967 that my mother made for me. It’s the one that had the lampshade look ha! Nice jackets and coats. I don’t want to go back to the early 70’s again and the denim patchwork print Marcy Tilton was hideous (for my taste). Not what I expected for a Vogue collection.

This was NOT a cohesive collection. It was all over the place - like they had some designs left over from previous seasons and threw them together and called it Fall 23! Thank god for the Rachel Comey dress. The vintage pieces are all beautiful but they don't make sense as a group. The woman who sews the 1975 pants and shirt jacket is not going to sew the 8.5 yard strapless dress. They should have saved that one for the holiday look. I love the extravagance of it, but who's going to make that NOW. Nobody. I don't know what's going on in the big 4 pattern companies since COVID - but they lost their way then they started recoving - even thriving - now it's like they've become a weirdo standing on the street corner yelling out random things.
