Taker probably didn't want to threaten Shawn because he wanted to see if Shawn would do the job and be a professional. He would later say he was ready to kick Shawn's ass if he didn't, but he probably didn't want to push him and threaten him until he actually did something else. In other words, Shawn was actually doing right, and Taker didn't want to discourage it by continuously giving him stuff.

This clip has to be from an old interview. Because Taker himself eventually admitted that the 'taped fist' story was completely true. (Broken Skull Sessions) He admitted to not only doing it, but to eventually regretting it when he seen the man shawn eventually became. That's why he lied when he asked him about it.
