I think this video shows that while it's important to search aggressively for Insidious Roots, surveiling away Skyfisher Spider can often lead to a scenario where you lose to something like Temporary Lockdown. Spiders are important to have in hand with this deck, don't throw em away like me!

Just wateched the Decktech, is it worth to drop one or two fairy dreamthieves in favor of a black/green/golgari spell? This way it would be easier to trigger the curators +4/+4 effect. or maybe drop one or two deatchcap marionettes for Go for the throat for the same reason? Maybe for a spell that protects you against graveyard hate or enchantment hate, or one that possibly finds cards for you? @MegaMogwai Amazing deck man, its always so fun to watch you play golgari and have a blast yourself!
@MegaMogwai28 күн бұрын
@@bulllletsss This is one of those cases where it may very well be better to focus on your combo going off than to have an easier time pumping up Curator or having more reliable removal (which as a 2x will be undrawn a lot vs aggro anyways)! Establishing the surveil chain is essential, it's what enables the deck to be consistent!

Running a similar list, it is so much fun to play ! I have a lot of success with it. Here are some thoughts based on my own experience with IR : Harvester of misery is awesome IMO. Better than chupacabra. The gnawing vermin is awesome too in this aggro meta with the mouse. Ashnods harvester is a good too. Very aggressive and surprisingly deadly. Curious forager, helps retrieve IR from graveyard and any other good stuff + it triggers IR twice. But it is more a late game card. Blanchwood prowler mills one more and helps stabilize the mana. Tks a lot for your work, so inspiring every time. You give me faith in this card the moment I saw your first vid about it and now it’s better than ever, so happy :)

A patron perk that I see a few other mtg creators doing is sideboard guides for their lists. I know you're doing a lot of best of 1 right now but if you did best of 3 on patron you could make a google spread sheet for your decks that shows what to bring in and take out against most meta decks.

Wow!!! Really nice deck! This feels like the "grown up" version of what I've been running. TIps for low budget: Cache Grab (to help find pieces and put stuff in graveyard); Bonebind Orator (2 triggers); Blanchwood Prowler (fills graveyard and helps with mana screw); Cult Conscript (recursion); Drown In Ichor (fills the role of the chupacabra + proliferate)

High tier: Once a month pick a deck designed by a patron to play for a session. It could be an interesting brew or a completely troll deck to watch you suffer.

I tend to... Solve my lack of wildcards, and my quest for originality by finding decks/archetypes and building like... 5 variants, at least A few patches ago, it was insidious roots. With Wilds of Eldraine it was Rakdos rats/fling These were often unsung heroes. I found no problem hitting masters with these lists (one played well, very well into both Mono Black, most Midrange or combo decks, and especially Atraxa, which was Witch Domain at the time, before squirming emergence) ... And yet it was almost impossible for me to find the mirror match. Funny how that works, when you build your own decks. You quickly realize that, outside of Alchemy, how little many players actually do.

For someone who doesn’t have tyvar or a lot of wilds, what would be a good substitute for it?
@LaurentCassaro27 күн бұрын
There's no substitute for Tyvar's static ability, so your deck won't be able to go crazy "infinite" mode. That means it only be worse, no matter the replacement you're using. I'm not even sure it could work to be fast enough to be playable. The only cards I could suggest are ones that allow you to retrieve something from your graveyard, like Wrenn and Seven (good to mill, but takes some time to enable the ultimate, and it's a mythic), or Curious Forager to get something back from the graveyard.
