Excellent video and really tells a true story. To think of these amazing workers, some who have done the same job for decades, as anything other than vital, committed and integral to our community is sad. They need to be acknowledged, celebrated and applauded for the work. Take care and stay safe, and thank you from everyone at The Litter Club

Meanwhile in the US, garbage collectors earn pretty high wages (US$40k annually) because they're struggling to fill in vacancies for these kinds of jobs in the waste sector. Not only are they earning good money, their wage growth rates were also 4% higher than the 14% average for all workers since the end of the recession in June 09. Salute to everyone who works in these "dirty" jobs no one else seems to want. They're vital to keep society moving.

There's no way they pay that for starting salary. 40K maybe for a veteran collector or a supervisor.

I always greet these guys and treat them with respect. I hate people who close their noses and mouth as their lorry passes. Remember, these guys are also smelling your rubbish! Give them due credit!

Me and my children always prepare cold drinks for them. And always make dua (prayer) for them and their families. They are doing the most important job (daruriyah). May they rest well in paradise. Ameen

It’s just a job. Somebody got to do it. It’s better than being a robber, gangster, scammer or loan sharks’ runner. They don’t beg us for money neither do they ask us to feed them for free. Rich people will never do this, will they?
